Great host and room was recently renovated with a super comfortable bed, with plenty of space. A fantastic traditional Scottish breakfast added to the experience.
Only issue for us was steep stairs for carrying large suitcases. Normally wouldn't be an issue for smaller suitcases etc.
A good choice for stopover on way to Scottish isles, excellent food choice Scottish breakfast a must

Lovely breakfast and comfortable room
Booked this hotel last minute, on the day, when I needed a stop en route from the south of England to the far west of Scotland. Me and a 7 year old. The reviews were pretty positive, but I was still pleasantly surprised. The hotel is just a couple of minutes off the motorway. We arrived very late but the owner made everything easy for us. The room was spotlessly clean, as was the large shower room. The beds were comfy. The towels were proper towels. The shower was powerful enough and had shampoo, body wash and conditioner dispensers. As well as tea and coffee, the kettle area also had hot chocolate, bottled water and biscuits. The cooked breakfast options looked amazing but I stuck to muesli. My kid asked for a sausage, a fried egg and a “big” bowl of beans, which is exactly what he got. So big he couldn’t finish it. All in all, I’d 100% recommend this hotel. I’d initially been reluctant to break up the journey, but I’ll have no hesitation in booking it again if/when needed.
There’s nothing about the property I didn’t like. The only issue I had was with booking.com’s system. I repeatedly tried to book the twin room for one adult and one child, and it kept warning me ‘if you book this room, your child will not have a bed to sleep in’. I booked it anyway, crossed my fingers and was obviously relieved when that warning turned out to be as stupid as it sounded.
Friendly and so welcoming. Excellently furnished.
Nothing.
Nice hotel , good breakfast , nice comfortable room.
Was promised an evening meal when booking at lunch time but that never happened due to the Chef being unavailable.
Warm greeting. Excellent value for money
We usually stay in Preston South Travelodge as it is halfway to Fife where we usually go but this time we were travelling further into the Highland so looked for somewhere over the Scottish Border so opted for this place. Yes, the room was a bit wee but it was just what we wanted. The hotel was spotless, clean, and the staff were so good, polite and it was just a great overnight stay. If you are looking for a lovely hotel, not far from the motorway, then give the Ecclefechan a try.
Nothing for this box.
Price was excellent as was the breakfast
