We visited NYC from the UK. We attended the RIVA Sunset event at Arlo Williamsburg with high expectations. The rooftop itself is stunning, with incredible views over the Manhattan skyline, but unfortunately the service completely overshadowed the experience.
We arrived promptly for the 5:00 pm start, only to discover that there was virtually nowhere to sit unless you paid even more for a reserved table. Considering the high ticket price (around $150 for two people), it’s unreasonable that general admission guests are effectively left standing with no seating available.
The bar experience was equally disappointing. We ordered two small margaritas at $20 each, and the payment terminal automatically selected a 20% tip. When we changed the tip amount ourselves, the bartender became visibly annoyed and abruptly snatched the card terminal from our hands. It was unprofessional and made us feel very uncomfortable.
To be honest, after that interaction I wanted to leave immediately, but having already spent so much on admission we felt we had little choice but to stay.
It’s such a shame because the venue and the views are genuinely spectacular. With friendly, customer-focused staff this could be an excellent experience. Unfortunately, the service fell well below expectations and let the whole event down.
Excellent staff, extremely accommodating
Great location
Rooms lack some basic amenities
Amazing experience! Nathaniel was attentive and super helpful. I will definitely come back to stay here whenever I’m in NYC.
Loistava sijainti, parveke aivan extraplussa, siisti huone, hyvä sänky.
The views were amazing and the hotel's aesthetic was cute.
Though the front desk staff were nice and professional, the rest of the staff was not. Two of the three elevators were out of service and rather than have a sign explaining that they were out of order, guests had to seek out staff to find out. The door staff were rude. The lobby staff were more interested in watching the World Cup final on the big screen TV than attending to guests. The elevator operator was rude and didn't do a great job (we waiting ten minutes for the elevator because twice he neglected to go to the front desk level). The rooms were nice but some fixtures needed repair or updating. Overall the experience was disappointing because the staff made no effort to make you feel welcome and were not communicative about the elevator situation.
location
party hotel, noisy, smelly
Great staff. Great location. Great property.
Nothing
Die Lage,
der Ausblick auf die Skyline von Manhattan,
bequeme Betten,
der Pool auf dem Dach
Es gab nichts zu beanstanden.
The location was spectacular. The view was amazing. Coming back from our stuff in the evening and stepping out to see the New York City skyline was an incredible moment. From checking to check out, it was a seamless and lovely experience. The staff was very kind warm and helpful. My favorite part of the trip was the ice latte that I had in the morning aside from the lovely barista who made it. it was one of the most delicious coffees I’ve ever had. I grew up in New York and I did not feel like I was in New York City at all great food all around the area too. I’m already planning my next vacation back.
I wish they would handle parking.
Great location, great view rooftop. A bit small room but full equipments
I loved the location- close to the train and there are many cool restaurants and shops close by.
I wish the bed in our room was a little bigger- a double bed is small for us.
Restaurant and common spaces are well designed and comfortable
Great location clean facilities nice front row staff
Rooms are extremely small and the Dj at the pool played only one type of music no mix
