White Hart, Newmarket by Marston's Inns

Bedrooms were basic, DJ on with music blasting out until 1.30am. Unable to sleep.

We asked for a quiet room and instead was put on the front of the hotel in a room what was very noisy all night long

Furnishings, walls, paint looked run down. Water stains on bathroom ceiling, peeling wallpaper, The only surface to rest items was a small bedside table that was partially painted and looked like something found by the side of the road. No lamp - either all ceiling and wall lights could be on or off. Walls were dingy and a bit stained and the window did not close fully. Perhaps the biggest disappointment is that the door did not lock from the inside. Neither the deadbolt nor the chain were functional so I had to block the door with my luggage. I did not feel safe and so did not sleep well, so i was tired heading to my morning meetings in Newmarket. I will not stay there again but the fixes to make the room safe, comfortable and pleasing are not difficult or costly, so it was disappointing.

The room was super hot, they provided fans but they weren't adequate and not enough plug sockets so they would reach you when in bed. The noise from the pub and outside went on late and loud meaning sleep was near impossible until the early hours of the morning .

The road outside is a little noisy first thing but to be expected in the location and didn't spoil our stay.

Speedier service for food orders

Needed a bit of TLC re the paintwork up the stairs and landing. Youngsters on shift on the Sunday afternoon, busy chatting amongst themselves; clearly not interested in engaging with any customers. When placing my food order, I was made to feel like I was really disturbing them! Maybe a training issue.

Nothing, as I expected it to be.

The room was awful very uncomfortable wasn’t worth £139

Not greeted with much warmth or friendliness.
Scruffy decor everywhere, all up the hall, along the corridores and in our room.
Roasting hot and were put in a tiny room with one small high up window and a small fan that did nothing, no air con, it was stifling and unbearable.
Breakfast was a shambles, poor choice, stale bread, no coffee left, no orange juice left, anything out was not covered and there were potential flies around. Ordered sausage and mushroom sandwich, long wait then when arrived there was ONE mushroom spread across 2 slices of stale bread. My husbands full English was lousy.
We had booked 2 nights but had to leave after 1 night we couldnt have.coped in that tiny room again with no aircon.
Was told i would get a refund for the night we cancelled but i am still waiting for this despite numerous messages sent via Booking.com and direct to the Hotel.
We are not ones to complain at all, we have always had great - fabulous stays in all our previous bookings (and there have been alot) but this was not good at all and we were so disappointed.
