Pros:

The staff were very helpful and the location was perfect for exploring the Gion District on foot plus perfect train and bus connections to get you to other parts of Kyoto.Plenty of wonderful restaurants near by to have Dinner. The room was perfect for a long stay - plenty of room -plus a view across the river.

Pros:

Beautiful traditional japanese style property in the heart of Kyoto. Walking distance to a lot of areas. Walk out balcony from the room was neat with a breakfast nook and a lot of complimentary amenities. Should have bought the breakfast here.

Amazing and spacious room and tasteful decor, however overrated breakfast and river views.
Pros:

Location and room was excellent ! They have complimentary sake in the common room which was just amazing !

Cons:

Booking.com apparently sent the incorrect number of guests to the property and for the first day our little one did not get a breakfast. All in all the stay was great as we mostly stayed outside and the room itself was great. However for a family stay I would say there are great options with breakfast included other than Alza in the area.

We absolutely loved our stay. In fact, we originally booked just one night but enjoyed it so much that we decided to extend for another night.
The rooms are surprisingly spacious (which is quite rare in Japan), beautifully designed, and very comfortable. The large windows offer stunning, almost meditative views that create a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The beds and pillows are exceptionally soft and comfortable.
A special highlight is the bathroom — the large jacuzzi and shower feel like a private onsen experience, perfect for unwinding after a long day.
The Japanese breakfast was refined and thoughtfully prepared. On the first floor, there is also a cozy Japanese-style lounge area where you can relax and enjoy refreshing drinks.
The staff are incredibly attentive, friendly, and helpful, and the cleanliness throughout the hotel is impeccable.
The location is excellent: close to major attractions, yet situated in a quiet and peaceful area, with the central district just about a 10-minute walk away.
We would definitely love to stay here again.
