We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Alza Kyoto. The room was huge, which was such a nice surprise, and the bathroom was absolutely gorgeous. It managed to blend modern comfort with traditional Japanese charm perfectly.

The location is honestly hard to beat. After looking at so many hotels in Kyoto, we really felt we couldn’t have picked a better spot. We were few minutes walk away from 1 of the 5 Geiko districts, Pontocho alley. Within walking distance of Gion and the main shopping districts. The hotel itself also has so much character from the outside and fits beautifully into the area.

We genuinely loved everything about our stay and would have no hesitation in coming back. One of those hotels you’re actually sad to leave!

Pros:

Hotel in posizione stupenda nel centro di gion. Struttura piccola ma estremamente accogliente, probabilmente la camera migliore in tutto il Giappone: super rifinita, spaziosa, dotata di comfort oltre l'immaginabile.

Cons:

Se proprio qualcosa devo scrivere, l'assenza di una sala per la colazione, la quale viene servita in camera. C è però un piccolo angolo bar dove prendere caffè e dolcetti tutto il giorno, oltre che degustazione di sake alla mescita

Enttäuschend, speziell wegen der grellen Balkonbeleuchtung und damit keine Aussicht abends auf den Fluss.
Pros:

Lage in historischer, ruhiger Gegend

Cons:

Es wird ein „River View“ Zimmer mit Balkon angeboten, da ich Kyoto kenne, habe ich mich besonders auf Abende am Balkon mit Aussicht auf den Fluss gefreut. Aus Zimmer 202 sieht man zunächst auf die Fußgängerampel, hinter den Bäumen etwas vom Fluss. Das wäre noch ok, wirklich störend war leider die grelle Hotel Beleuchtung bis sehr spät nachts, der Balkon taghell bestrahlt und somit nicht verwendbar; schlafen nur mit geschlossenen Vorhängen möglich. Wer sensibel auf Strassengeräusche ist, wäre wohl zusätzlich enttäuscht. Mein Tipp an das Hotel: Beleuchtung spätestens um 22 h abdrehen.

Excellent hotel, amazing staff
Pros:

This is an exceptional hotel. The location is perfect, the rooms huge and spotless, the staff excellent and hugely helpful. In advance of our stay i asked for help to book a boat for UKAI as i was having difficulties doing so. They replied immediately and my family had a truely great experience. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you for making our stay in Kyoto so enjoyable.

お風呂が大きくてとても良い、アメニティーも充実しているし、部屋も清潔でとても良かったです。

Cons:

多分外人さんの来客が多い為か、入口のお香が匂い過ぎてた位で、一部スタッフも日本の方ではなかったですが、対応はしっかりしてました。
