Great option on the rail trail!
Pros:

Great location, comfy beds, good food options to purchase plus a very good free breakfast included with rooms. Staff were very friendly and helpful! Nice fire in private sitting room.

Cons:

I was in an outside room and there was quite a bit of noise during the night (not sure what it was but it turned off and on at times).

Pros:

This was a lovely stop on our railtrail journey with very friendly staff and a warm inviting environment. It was a very welcome sight after pedelling through snow!! Thankyou 🥰

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean with everything we needed. Warm, enough blankets. Bathroom was good. Good breakfast. Dinner at the bar was good

Pros:

Clean, cozy, great value for the stay.

Cons:

I did arrive just before the admin left (and I appreciate the wait till the last minute), but it was already below zero outside, so it is not the best idea to keep toilet window open, it was like a freezer there, it was super cold to take a shower.

We enjoyed our night at Waipiata, just could’ve been better attention to cleaning.
Pros:

The staff were friendly.
Food was delicious.
We had booked the Rustic Room and were told upon arrival there was a problem with flies in that room, they showed us the room and it smelt terrible. We were offered another room for an extra $30. We took this room.

Cons:

Not very clean
The staff advised that none of the rooms have keys “but it should be pretty safe”
The room we stayed in had a bottle of water in the fridge, there was black mould inside the lid of the bottle and on the thread at the top.

Nothing. Decided to stay on! It's not shiny and new but we didnt expect that. Great value!

Very good. Will stay again if in that area.
Pros:

Our host was friendly and efficient, even if the only one on duty, so he was kept busy.
For our evening meal, we just ordered soup as we had eaten a full meal earlier in the day. It was EXCELLENT.
The breakfast suited us as we could have this at any time which suited our plans for the morning.

Cons:

Nothing to report. I've staying twice before, so I knew what to expect.

Pros:

Awesome atmosphere inside pub, room had extremely good water pressure which made things better.

Cons:

the room was outside garden shed converted into a room, it was surreal being led outside to what i thought was an old outhouse toilet but beyond the broken garden shed door was my room. holes in the ceiling patched with old crate bottle boxes. broken glass that lets cold air in. it was a bit of a catfish with the fire in the photos as i thought that was for my room.
