We had dinner here with friends which was amazing, my partner suffers with food allergies and the staff were brilliant, checking back with him on the changes they would make to his choice to accomodate his issues.
Our room was comfortable and clean, maybe just a couple of homely touches, a picture on the wall and some colourful cushions to give it a bit of colour.
will certainly be back
nothing
The hotel has a good sized carpark adjacent to the hotel. The staff are a young team of very competent young people who are polite and well trained.
Staff were friendly, caring and efficient. I was greeted and my bag carried to my room, which was very helpful.
Super was an excellent bowl of home made soup. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order.
My room was small. Only a chair under a desk so I had to sit on the bed to relax, no casual chair because no space for it.
The location is terrific, personnel kind and available. Cold and hot breakfast was appreciated.
My single bed room was really tiny. Access to parking is inaccessible for motorbikes to the point that in trying to drive over the hill, two of us fell down. Need to be ameliorated.
Big bedroom, its character, setting with views
Breakfast room very hot
Food was v good
We had a v small room twin which was located at the top of the house in the heatwave. Even with the fan provided it was too hot and should not have been offered to customers
The architecture and character
Looks tired, needs some investment
Fantastic food, the patio was a treat to sit out on to enjoy dinner, staff excellent, beautiful building, ample parking and convenient to cowslip workshops
Bed very hard and room a bit noisy could hear traffic from main road, had a unintentional early start as woken up at 4am from people shouting outside and then couldn’t get back to sleep ( having just said that it was the England v Mexico match and we won so I suppose they were celebrating lol) at breakfast coffee machine had broken down, finally got a cup after breakfast was finished.
Food was very good. Staff very helpful and
Pleasant. Comfortable room.
Access by steps into reception and rooms makes it difficult for elderly guests with mobility issues.
The staff and this venue could not have been more friendly and helpful.
There is a wonderful terrace in the sun which is perfect for drinks and they make their own gin!
We had a lovely big room, a big bed and lovely spacious bathroom.
The hotel can't help this, but the traffic noise carries quite a bit and we needed the windows open as it was warm. It didn't hamper our sleep, but it is very noticeable.
Looks very grand.
Lots of stairs and fire doors down to basement bedrooms. It would have been helpful if staff member had helped me with suitcase. My bedroom in the basement smelt damp.
The hotel looks lovely from the outside but inside it needs a bit of work. The rooms were nice enough but the dining area was a bit soulless, it was just a large room with tables spread around, there were white table cloths on the tables but no curtains or plants or anything to make the room inviting. The food was good (not excellent) and the staff were helpful. It was well placed if you wanted to visit the castle or to wander around the town.
It needs some improvement to the inside including decorating and making look more warm and inviting.
Beautiful old building and room, excellent breakfast, central to both coasts of eastern Cornwall.
Very nice oldy worldly house and room with everything we needed. The staff were amazing, we were running late due to multiple motorway crashes and delays, and they moved our restaurant reservation a few times to accommodate. The food was delicious and also the breakfast. I highly recommend and would stay again!
