The people, the area and the shower
The small room, the lack of coat hangers and the closed bar
The hotel is in a nice location, with the river alongside. Photograph of outside hotel needs up-dating. Area now consists of numerous tables on concrete slabs. The breakfast room was nice. Excellent staff and a good choice of breakfasts.
The bathroom was new, clean and an accident waiting to happen. Really slippery floor in the shower and no grab handles.
Not all guests are twenty five year old gymnasts.
The most important 'not like' is that the hotel does not provide evening meals. We arrived after a 250 mile drive to be informed that there was no food but a pub next door. The said pub was literally bursting with people. Then informed there were restaurants along the high street. Yes there were with all but one closed. This was at 6-30 pm. The room was adequate but with a two level floor and small step.
The breakfast was excellent
The room was very dark & outdated
Staff very helpful and the breakfast was excellent.
Great staff 😁😁
The owners were very friendly and welcoming, and knew the town very well. I arrived quite late and left early so I didn't eat at the hotel. It was only about a five minute walk up into the town for foreign food takeways, or a pub which serves food a few hundred yards down the road , so even closer.
It was quite a hot summer evening when I stayed, (which was in the hotel annex), so with the window open during the evening the road noise was a bit annoying. However, I slept with the window shut, and had a full nights sleep which was what I needed. I wouldn't use the road noise as an excuse not to book again.
We were part of a wedding group which was well looked after - they were very helpful arranging taxis for some. Easy check in process. Comfortable room, decent shower, good location with parking. Next door to an old pub and an excellent breakfast! Recommend.
Ideal for our stay, friendly and very accomadating, good breakfast too.

Easy to find, had parking, is on the river, large shower, decent beds, clean linen. Breakfast was ok but not great. Things need to be kept cold in the heat (milk, juice, water, fruit) but they weren’t.
The room was baking hot, had to try and sleep with windows & curtains open. Owner couldn’t even provide a fan and didn’t even try. The road noise was unbelievable as well. Speeding trucks would actually shake the entire room. It might have been nice once but has poor maintenance and looks kind of run down. The river also gave off a very stagnant smell due to lack of rain…. Obviously not much can be done to prevent that.
Lovely location by the river.
All staff friendly and helpful
Slight noise from main road but didn’t spoil our stay
The staff were really friendly and they had a great outdoor area on the river which was great for drinks. Breakfast was great and the young lady serving was attentive and friendly
The room was hot but it was one of the hottest days of the year!
I would also like to acknowledge the positive aspects of our stay. The B&B is in a good location, making it convenient for visiting the surrounding area and Center Parcs. The room itself was very clean, comfortable and well presented, with comfortable bedding.
I would also like to commend the staff for their service. In particular, the young receptionist/head of house was extremely helpful when we experienced the problems with the key. She genuinely tried to resolve the situation and went above and beyond to help us, despite the circumstances being outside of her control.
The breakfast was also very good, and the food was enjoyable.
It was not made clear at the time of booking that our room would not be in the main building. Instead, we were accommodated in a converted house situated directly on the main road.
The Cambridge Room is particularly close to the road, with only a narrow footpath separating the bedroom window from the passing traffic. Throughout the night, heavy lorries and other vehicles travelled past the room, creating considerable noise and making it extremely difficult to sleep.
Unfortunately, the traffic noise continued throughout the night, and we were unable to get any meaningful sleep during our stay. We feel this is an important issue that should be made clear to guests when booking the Cambridge Room, particularly given its proximity to the main road.
