Lovely room and hotel service.

Location was ideal for what we required

Easy parking and very clean

Size of rooms was good an it had a kitchen

Good price.Good size rooms. Plenty of supplies for tea and coffee.

The breakfast at Rangos was excellent. Checking in was easy though I didn't receive some of the emails, but you can get the check-in link from booking.com.

It was clean, comfortable bed and was located close enough for the Beamish museum. Restaurant next to the hotel, food was good and reasonably priced.

When the breakfast establishment was open, the breakfast was good, but it isn’t open Monday and Tuesday, therefore we had no breakfast.
The remote for the tele did not work, and we could not open the window.

Clean room, nice breakfast, lovely friendly staff - would recommend.

My room was very clean and the beds were great.

Mixed review for this one. On the one hand, it is excellent value for money and ‘does the job’ if you just need a bed and bathroom for a couple of nights. Location is good and noise outside was minimal. Overall cleanliness was good and having Rango’s bar & restaurant attached is very handy, with a lovely beer garden. (Shame it’s not open Mondays and Tuesdays at the time of writing.) However, when we checked in to this supposedly “LGBTQ+ friendly” hotel as two young women, we were asked repeatedly if we wanted to change our double bed for a room with 2 single beds. When we repeatedly said no thank you, a double is what we wanted, the receptionist still didn’t seem to cotton-on that we were a couple, and insisted that the bed doesn’t separate. With people queuing behind us, this started to feel uncomfortable. To later add to this discomfort, some of our family members began talking to the receptionist in our absence and casually mentioned that they had family staying at the hotel, only for the receptionist to voluntarily tell them our room number!!! This extreme lack of security and guest privacy was appalling! We feel that they must operate with a “that would never happen here” mindset, but by providing guest details and room numbers with no proof of identity, this made us feel extremely unsafe. We were assured we would need ID to check in, and we were asked to fill in a pre-check in form online to state the names and identities of all guests. We were assured no other people would be permitted to stay in our room other than the named guests. We were NOT asked for ID on check-in and then our room information was handed out to people not even staying in our room. We may not have wanted family to know where we were staying (having fled from an unsafe family household myself in the past, this is extremely unnerving!) and furthermore, they had no proof that they even WERE family. Recent incidents have seen people claiming to be someone’s partner and claiming to have ‘forgotten their room number’, meaning they were able to enter a victim’s room and resulted in fatality. Add to this the seemingly ‘small’ things, such as the door spy-hole being broken (we had to use tissue to block it from the inside during our stay), no A/C during a heatwave (we requested a fan, which was old, dusty and partially broken, but better than nothing), paper-thin walls and a smell of drains in the bathroom (with no drain/plug cover in the shower), this hotel could not only do with some TLC & attention to detail, but also requires extreme improvements in hotel & guest security. To further this, when checking out, all lock-boxes for those checking out that morning were left open for all to see, with no fob or key system needed to enter the lobby, nor any staff present in reception. This meant anyone could walk in and figure out which rooms were occupied and had people checking out. Whilst we understand that many people think “it will never happen here”, unfortunately it does happen where we live, and in many other parts of the country. In this day and age, sadly, hotels need to take more precautions to ensure guest safety and security. If all of these things were to be addressed and fixed in the future, we may look to return for future visits due to the excellent value for money. Until then, we would not recommend this hotel with the current measures. I am hopeful that they will take this feedback on board and use it constructively, as we would like to be able to continue to support independent and local businesses like this one in the future.

Clean & comfortable..value for money. Staff are really nice.

The room was lovely and clean (bed did have a few marks on sheet but not a massive problem). Beds very comfy, plenty pillows etc. tea/coffee was a lovely touch appreciated these as we were unable to have the breakfast which was disappointing but we made it work.
