It’s a clean room and has a bathtub for the kids to play in. It’s near the district where we can walk to the restaurants at night.
The layout is a bit weird/narrow and the property is a bit dated. Some maintenance needs to be done.
Location, very close to buses and walkable to attractions
Tacky decor, no bellman / didn’t get any assistance with my luggage, service was lukewarm at best, dust on some surfaces in the room. Complimentary water was a cheap brand. Lighting control in the room was not intuitive. Very slow lifts
Room was spacious and comfortable bed
The sauna and spa were in a change room … making it an odd experience and not relaxing. The pool area was cold and uninviting.
Room was extremely dusty and the shower had very low water pressure. Staff were lovely but probably won’t stay here again.

The bath was out of this world and I could tell that a lot of care and thought went to every little detail!
The staff were exceptional, wonderfully helpful, kind and went the extra mile to make our stay that much more special. We attended for our wedding and they really did all they could to make our day!

Great room and location, but service and food let it down
I stayed at the W Brisbane and the room and location were excellent. Check-in was warm and professional, and as an American Express guest and Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member, I was well looked after on arrival. I was upgraded to a lovely corner suite overlooking the river, with a bottle of sparkling wine waiting for me. The room itself was hard to fault: comfortable bed, great bathroom and shower, and a wonderful view.
The hotel’s location was also a real strength. It was central, riverfront and easy for getting around Brisbane.
Where the stay fell down was service and food.
I arrived late after travelling from Indonesia and found the room service dinner options heavy and not especially appealing. When you have just come off an overseas flight, the thought of a bacon and egg burger or other very rich food is not ideal. The menus across the hotel really needed some work. They leaned too heavily into rich, heavy options and did not offer enough lighter, fresher choices.
I ordered a burger without aioli, but it arrived with aioli. When I raised it, the issue was not handled in a particularly thoughtful way. Worse, when I checked out, the burger was still on my bill. Eventually a manager came out and removed it, but it took more effort than it should have. To the hotel’s credit, when I later had tacos by the pool, they did remove the aioli from those. The pool itself was lovely, although the water could have been a little warmer in winter. I enjoyed some drinks there, but the tacos were fairly uninspiring — fine enough to fill me up, but not memorable.
There were also some Sunday issues that the hotel needed to think about. The restaurant was closed for dinner on Sunday, pressing was not available in the same way, and Brisbane itself was not especially lively for dinner on a Sunday night. That meant guests staying on a Sunday felt a little penalised, yet the hotel did not reduce its rates to reflect the reduced service offering.
I gave this feedback during checkout, but nothing meaningful was taken off my bill beyond removing the incorrect aioli burger charge. That left me feeling that the feedback was heard, but not really acted on.
Overall: 5 stars for the room and location, but about 2 stars for service and food. This could be an outstanding hotel, but the service recovery and menu design needed more thought.

Our stay was not a great start, as concierge staff argued that they couldn't find our booking and that we had booked for another month. After half an hour of back and forth, they finally realized we were correct and had booked. It was 11pm at night, so we were exhausted.
That staff argued we were not correct in our booking even though we had a confirmation email.
