Hate to write this because we usually love the Edinburgh Grand. We booked a Loft Room without thinking heat rises. We could not get the loft to feel cool enough to sleep comfortably (even opened windows fully). We ended up calling the front desk about 1 am to ask for fans, but it was too late to get any good sleep before we needed to be up first thing in the morning. In my opinion, summertime is too hot to not at least just provide or offer fans at check in-especially for the loft rooms. We shouldn't have to call in the middle of the night-just have them in the rooms.

Nothing
My husband and I were to stay here at the beginning of our Scotland vacation. I had been in England for three weeks for work, and he had arrived just that morning, so we were both tired and jet lagged, and more than ready for the luxurious room we had reserved. Upon arrival, we were very quickly told that there was no room available for us (this is a HUGE hotel, so this was a little hard to comprehend) and that a taxi was on its way to take us to one of their sister properties on the Royal Mile. I pushed back a little, but they were not willing to budge. The entire experience felt so offensive--like we were not wanted there and were being shuttled to a "lesser" property on the busiest, most touristy street in town. If I had wanted to stay over on the Royal Mile I would have booked a room there, but since we were looking for something a little nicer and wanted to rest, I booked this hotel at this location.
Needless to say, I will never book at this hotel again. At the end of our trip we stayed right next door at the Gleneagles Townhouse and had a completely different experience--one that I will gladly repeat next time I'm in town.

Fantastic location. Excellent service. A great place to stay and enjoy the serenity of Edinburgh as a family. Memorable experience. Surprised at how easy for city commute through tram and buses and taste great food in Edinburgh.
Liked everything about this property, service and stay.
The location is excellent, right in the middle of St Andrew Square, this is 2 minute walk away from any kind of restaurant, eatery, pubs etc. The choice of eateries around this place is amazingly diverse - Indian, Italian, Mexican, Pubs, Chinese, Continental, etc. And all of them of very good quality. The Hop-on Hop-off bust stop is right in front of of the hotel. Ubers are super easy to get. It is walking distance from the Royal Mile, Princes Street etc. Natalie and Lilita the front desk, and their colleagues were amazingly helpful, every single time.
The bed and linen were super clean and hygienic. Staff is amazingly warm and super efficient. In fact they converted what could otherwise have been a disappointing room experience into a warm, comfortable stay.
The room we took was a high end Suite. The living room of the suite was awesomely spacious and well structured, the bedroom of the suite was very tiny and very little space to even walk around the bed. The bedroom had two cupboards, but the wiggle room was so tiny that we could not keep our baggages there. We had to request for baggage stands and keep it in the living room. The lighting in the room could do with a little more brightness.
The hotel does not have a 24/7 restaurant. Not even 24/7 in-room dining. The in-room dining closes at 9.30 PM. So you have to plan you dinner evenings and possibly keep some food in the room for if you are hungry or feel like a coffee later. The breakfast is also a la carte and not buffet. Vegan options food is limited.
The bathroom is spacious, but the shower area did not have even a railing for seniors to hold on to when stepping out of the bath. This is seriously dangerous and they could slip as the floor is smooth.
