The service was great and the staff were very pleasant.
At £400 a night this seemed extremely overpriced. We've come to expect far more for our money outside of Edinburgh.
The most exceptional hotel, the height of luxury in a perfect central location. The rooms were gorgeous we stayed in the suites on the 4th floor which had split level living and sleeping area. The beds were very comfortable. All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Special mention to Joseph who greeted us every time we arrived and left the hotel he was brilliant making us feel right at home and he could offer directions or helpful recommendations. I cannot wait to return!!
This hotel is exceptional. Service is perfection. Joseph at the front door was so welcoming and impressed us with his knowledge of the city and his recommendations. The rooms are amazing.
I cannot wait to return.
I loved everything!
The lobby requires innovative. Its dull
I was disappointed to discover that the hotel advertises air conditioning as an amenity, but our room did not have it. When I asked the staff, I was informed that only certain rooms include air conditioning. If that is the case, the hotel should make this clear in the room descriptions rather than listing it as a general hotel amenity.
Under normal circumstances, this may not have been a major issue. However, we stayed during an unusually hot week, and the lack of air conditioning made the room quite uncomfortable and significantly impacted our experience.
The property itself has many positives, but transparency regarding room amenities is important. Guests should know exactly what they are booking so they can make an informed decision, especially during warmer months.
Some hotels are simply a place to stay. Others feel like home. The Edinburgh Grand is definitely one of them.
The location is perfect—right in the heart of the city and within walking distance of almost everything. The in-suite washer and dryer and full kitchen were an unexpected luxury and made our stay so much easier.
The shower felt like standing under a heavenly waterfall that you do not want to get out of it, and the bed was incredibly comfortable—supportive, cool, and so cozy that I slept like a baby every night.
What truly sets this hotel apart is the staff. If Scottish hospitality is the standard for a five-star experience, then The Edinburgh Grand goes above and beyond. Special thanks to Joseph, Charles, and the restaurant manager, Scott. They are the finest examples of true Scottish gentlemen—warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming.
As the Scots say, “Haste ye back.” We certainly will.
Location. The feel, the rooms
It can be a bit pricey for the sake of it
Smukt sted med flot indretning. Meget venligt og hjælpsomt personale. Dejlig morgenmad. Fantastisk beliggenhed.

Having traveled many countries throughout North America and Europe I try not to have expectations because many times I am disappointed.
I just spent the better part of a week at the Edinburgh Grand in Scotland. The hotel exceeded any experience I have had in Europe. The food was amazing, I highly recommend the eggs Benedict!
Even better were the people I met at the hotel. I have never seen a friendlier or more helpful staff. From the moment we arrived I felt the “vibe”. I can not suggest a visit strongly enough. One of my most highly rated hotels and my favorite of 40 years of travel. The weather not so much (LOL) but the people made it worth the trip to Scotland.
Hate to write this because we usually love the Edinburgh Grand. We booked a Loft Room without thinking heat rises. We could not get the loft to feel cool enough to sleep comfortably (even opened windows fully). We ended up calling the front desk about 1 am to ask for fans, but it was too late to get any good sleep before we needed to be up first thing in the morning. In my opinion, summertime is too hot to not at least just provide or offer fans at check in-especially for the loft rooms. We shouldn't have to call in the middle of the night-just have them in the rooms.
