Beautiful historical hotel with grounds with excellent access onto nearby A1 . Excellent breakfast
Wonderful historic house and guests should note the staircase and the overmantel in the dining room. The gardens are exceptional with champion trees (Wellingtonia and Robinia in particular) and don't miss the kitchen garden and glasshouse. Beds comfortable with good linen. Dinner was excellent and the breakfast pretty good as well. The conservatory where breakfast is served could do with some paintings or textiles on the walls to break up the colour uniformity. If you're into racing, don't miss the traditional burial site of the Byerley Turk, one of the three founding thoroughbreds from which all racehorses are descended.
The Byerley Turk's final resting place deserves a more distinguished notice.
A full charge for an electric car is an unnecessarily exorbitant £60! We settled for a half charge.
A second luggage stand in the bedroom would be helpful.
The setting is really beautiful
No one answers the phone after 6.00pm, however it is partly acceptable since it is a family run hotel with limited staff

Charming hotel, lovely comfortable room, grounds and kitchen garden are superb. Great location, easy to find and a 5 minute drive to Knaresborogh - a delightful village with a Castle, river walk and lots of lovely independent shops
Lovely historic property, in grounds, in a village location just outside Knaresborough. Well equipped rooms with every comfort. Great historic lounge areas . Just a very nice hotel.
The only criticism really was slow service in the restaurant. We were over 30 minutes after our booking when we sat down. Food took some time to arrive (we were not alone , other guests were complaining to staff) and the dessert menu never arrived after it was promised so we gave up.
The members of staff are super friendly and helpful.

The Hall and Location are stunning. The grounds relaxing. Amazing history. Lovely areas to sit outside, in the library and drawing room. Amazing chandeliers. The staff are lovely. Also, the local pub 2 minutes walk away is open Wed to Sunday and has great food and drink and outside seating in a garden setting.
The cooked Yorkshire breakfast was only average. Sausage had water running out and were tasteless and the eggs were overdone.

The food was dull and unimaginative. The hotel and its customers deserve better. Having stayed twice and wanting to stay again the owners must do something about presenting food that matches the accommodation.
The hotel is just superb, we are evening meal and breakfast, which were both fantastic, staff were very friendly, the gardens are just amazing
Food was a bit slow on the evening
Beautiful building, furnishings and surroundings; comfortable air conditioned room
1. understaffed (although staff were helpful and friendly) e.g. there was no one to carry our bags to our room on arrival except the receptionist who helped; we waited 20 minutes for someone to take a pre dinner drink order on our first evening; we waited 30 minutes for our breakfast order to arrive on our first morning
2. odd that one has to walk through the often occupied orangery dining area to access our room, particularly when struggling with luggage
3. disappointing dinner menu - the food seemed more like pub food than fine dining
We spent three nights at Goldsborough Hall for my father-in-law’s 90th birthday, with nine of us staying across five rooms. Overall. we had an enjoyable stay.
The food was very good and the service throughout was excellent: friendly, attentive and professional without ever feeling intrusive. The Hall is set in a lovely village (Goldsborough), and has particularly stunning gardens. The head gardener was also wonderfully enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge, thoughts and ideas, which added to our enjoyment of the gardens.
We also liked the fact that the owners live in the Hall. They are clearly involved in the business, but do so without being intrusive, which gives the place a rather nice personal feel. We thought the accommodation represented reasonable value for money, although this will inevitably depend on the room category chosen.
If we had one reservation, it is that parts of the Hall are beginning to look a little tired. Some of the décor and carpets, in particular, feel somewhat dated. There are areas with rather more of a country pub feel than you might expect from a grand historic hall. That said, this is very much a matter of presentation rather than comfort or service, and it did not detract significantly from our stay.
I would also flag that the ground floor accessible room is somewhat depressing, with limited natural light and no outlook. For someone with a limited walking range, it is also a relatively long walk to other parts of the hotel, including the car parking facilities. Fine if you are a wheelchair user.
All in all, Goldsborough Hall provided a lovely setting for a very special family occasion. Good food, excellent staff, beautiful gardens and a relaxed atmosphere made it a memorable three-night stay.
We stayed at this wonderful hotel at the end of July to celebrate our 25th Silver Wedding Anniversary. We had a wonderful stay and were made to feel very special by all the staff.
As we stayed on a Monday and Tuesday, we dined in the Orangery restaurant. The main course we both ordered initially wasn't available, but the chef went out of his way to make it for us, so we weren't disappointed, which was a wonderful touch. All of the food we experienced at the hotel was delicious.
The hotel only has a small number of bedrooms, so it had an intimate feel to it. The grounds surrounding the hotel are beautiful, and it was lovely to have the freedom to roam around. We especially liked the kitchen garden and having cream tea on the terrace.
We'd love to visit again near to Christmas, to enjoy a wintry walk around the grounds, followed by a fireside whiskey in the library. Thank you so much for making our special occasion so lovely.
Breakfast was fine and the Orangery was exceptional. All the staff were brilliant.
Patio Adjoining the room was grubby and full of weeds. The room was ok but not exceptional. we were very surprised to find the bar separate from the lounge and unmanned although a very obliging gentleman was on hand to serve us if necessary. Maybe we were unlucky but there did not seem to be much of an atmosphere about the place.
