Most enjoyable 2 hour tour of the city. Pedro knowledgeable of Lisbon history.
We had the best stay at Hotel Da Baixa!! From the moment we arrived we felt so welcome. We initially parked a few blocks away and Alfonso helped us bring in all of our luggage. The next day we were greeted for breakfast by Pedro who accommodated our baby so well! We were lucky enough to go on the complimentary walking tour with Pedro which was outstanding!! So insightful with the history of Lisbon. Pedro even made reservations for us at a wonderful restaurant that night and had many recommendations for the duration of our stay. He made us feel like family. As far as the hotel goes, the room is very comfortable. The breakfast is delicious. The hotel is centrally located and easy to walk places. Great stay for families especially with young kids - they had a crib ready for us to use upon arrival. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel and if we are able to return to Lisbon we will be staying here again!!
We stayed at Hotel da Baixa for 4 nights and would absolutely stay here again. It’s a smaller boutique hotel, and from the moment we arrived we felt genuinely welcomed.
A few things that really stood out…
* We had requested a 1 pm early check-in, but when we arrived around 11 am our room was already ready. After an overnight flight, that was amazing.
* Waiting in our room was a bottle of champagne and Pastéis de Nata. Such a thoughtful welcome to Portugal!
* A huge thank you to Carol for leading the hotel’s complimentary walking tour. We were actually running late because our driver was delayed, but he called the hotel and they waited for us. We were so grateful! The tour was the perfect way to get oriented on our first morning and even ended with a drink back at the hotel bar. Carol’s insider tips (especially how to get to São Jorge Castle using the elevators instead of climbing the giant hill) ended up saving us a ton of time during our stay.
* We booked the Premium City View room and it was perfect for our family of 3.
* The AC was outstanding. We happened to be in Lisbon during the heat wave, and every afternoon we were so happy to come back to a cool room. Between the AC and the blackout curtains, we all slept really well.
* Great shower too…excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water every day.
* Fresh bottled water kept getting replenished throughout our stay. It was one of those little touches that meant a lot when it was so hot outside.
* Breakfast was excellent every morning. Fresh fruit, made-to-order omelets, pastries, great coffee…we never left hungry.
* The location couldn’t be better. We walked almost everywhere. Even though you’re right in the middle of the city, the hotel sits on a pedestrian street, so it’s much quieter than you’d expect. Mostly people walking by and the occasional historic tram.
The only minor thing I’d mention is that the pull-out sofa mattress is probably due for an update, although our daughter still slept well.
Thanks again to Carol and everyone at Hotel da Baixa for helping make our first trip to Portugal so memorable. We hope to be back!
Ampla e funcional.
Tudo funciona.
No notes. Would stay again. Hands down!
Wonderful hospitality. I went for the free walking tour and Pedro was a gem, very knowledgeable - and ended off with a complimentary glass of wine. The service is excellent, no complaints!
In a world that rarely uses the word, "complementary", Hotel Da Baxia is a standout. It is such a lovely and comfortable property! They pay attention to all of the details (like explaining each type of pillow and encouraging you to order more of the ones you like). Front desk staff are fluent in English and very helpful. The restaurant is exquisite. Chief among the complementary services, is the charming and knowledgeable Pedro! His walking tour creates a sense of community and teaches you a lot about the hotel's neighborhood. We can't wait to return!
We stayed at this hotel 3 nights, we are a family of four including two teens. The hotel is lovely, location is top, and so is everything else about the hotel. We took the walking tour with Pedro, and we highly recommend it. I actually booked this hotel because of the location and the walking tour and I am glad I did. Pedro is fantastic because he makes you feel like you are a family member and he is showing you around his city. You gain knowledge that you would not otherwise gain. Thank you Pedro!
The hotel is in a perfect Lisbon location and is excellent in every way. Service is just outstanding especially that of Guest Service Manager, Pedro Falcao, who also provides the complimentary introductory tour.
Everything was great!
We had no complaints
This is definitely a place to come back to
The staff the cleaning every thing is perfect
The hotel is in the heart of Baixa. A convenient location for exploring the surrounding areas.
Pedro’s walking tour of the local attractions was fantastic and very informative!
This hotel is all about location. It is centrally located for all of the main attractions in Lisbon. We would recommend venturing outside of the Baixa area for restaurants. As of June 2026, there is construction going on next door--we had to request a room change, which the hotel obliged.
The included breakfast was okay. For American travelers, it's similar to what you would get at basic Marriott, Hilton, etc. products.
We took the city guided tour run by Pedro Falcao This is one of the best tours we have ever had, and we are extensive travelers.
He was engaging, knowledgeable and a proficient historian .
We stayed at the sister hotel Blue Liberdade and had an excellent stay there as well
It is without pause that I rate Pedro a 10 He is just another reason why I would recommend the 2 hotels to anyone visiting Lisbon
Wonderful stay in Lisbon! We loved the hotel's complementary walking tour with Pedro, I absolutely recommend this tour. It's both fun and educational, about 2 hours long it leaves the rest of the afternoon to enjoy
A well appointed hotel in downtown Lisboa, close to all the busy areas and a short walk to museums, the shopping districts, and a plethora of eating places.
The staff were very welcoming and attentive, and assisted us with questions that we had about places we were going and how to get there.
Breakfast was included in our package and had good variety to suit a range of palates. The omelette station was excellent and as much as I shouldn’t eat omelettes every day, I did.
Our room was nicely furnished but was definitely on the small side - we had to close our large suitcases after getting out the items that we needed.
Drinks in the small fridge were free and replenished.
Classy establishment with polite, professional staff. Communal areas were very pleasant and the meals in the hotel's Sebastiao restaurant were the best we experienced in Lisbon. The self-service breakfast had many elements from which to choose - juices, fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt, toppings, pastries, hot components from which to build a cooked breakfast, a variety of breads, cold meats and cheeses, salad - excellent. Free water and coffee machine available in lobby all day, occasionally pastries or fruit.
The only aspect which could have been improved was the bedroom decor - a bit tired and grubby, particularly the carpet, and the bathroom window was extremely difficult to wrench open, but the facilities all worked (except for one of the 2 shower heads in the large cubicle, and the pump dispensed products in there were bland). Also, the wardrobe space was a bit tight for 2 people for a week, and the desk space minimal - we struggled to put things out (literature, jewellery, makeup, money, drinks or the coffee machine in order to use it; it was stashed away in the wardrobe; no tea making option in the room).
Sound proofing's pretty good; street noise was as expected and not too invasive.
Through no fault of the hotel, there were heavy building works opposite and in the adjacent building and to be fair, no establishment would warn you of such things.
Pedro is one of the most friendliest, personable walking tour guide that I’ve ever met! As a teacher, I deeply appreciate the pace of learning that he planned and scaffolded for our small group of 8. We started off with an intro walking tour with the lovely Manuel from the Blue Liberdade hotel and he led us to the main hotel lobby at Hotel Da Baixa for the main walking tour with Pedro. It was such a well paced tour, starting with a bit of history and preview of the tour agenda in the hotel lobby before heading outside and ending with some lovely vino and AC break back at the hotel lobby. Throughout the tour, Pedro was not only knowledgeable, but also personable. He did a great job synthesizing years of history through his storytelling to make it understandable and intriguing for the average tourist. Thank you for your genuine hospitality and warmth! We will not forget this experience. Highly recommended!
Amazing walking tour ! Pedro is very knowledgeable and passionate about his work.
Very informative and helpful for planning out the rest of the trip and great recommendations !
Highly recommend !
