NorthGate Jaffna is located extremely close to the railway station. There are stores and restaurants nearby. All the city attractions are an easy Tuk-tuk distance. Our room attendant was wonderful. He took great care of us and at the level of need we are comfortable with, which is to leave us alone unless we request an item and only one good cleaning in a week. His name is Subotia, 5th floor. Very respectful. The breakfast can meet the needs of most cultures. The regular menu is good also. The size of the room is wonderful. The balcony looks out on the railroad. We enjoyed watching the trains.
It would have been nice to have a couple of chairs for the balcony, but we never requested them. We did request to have the shower temp raised for a heated shower. As they have cold showers.
Hotel restaurant and breakfast was great. Staff were helpful and attentive. Rooms were spacious. The pool was lovely to swim in and Jaffna town centre was in very close proximity.

Location, friendly staff and good speed of buffet.
Room was setup in a way that A/C was always blowing at the bed and freezing at night. Turning off the a/c is not an option for obvious reasons. A simple redesign or moving the bed around would fix the issue.
Northgate Jaffna was such a delightful hotel. The room was absolutely enormous with a. balcony that overlooked the historical Jaffna rail station. We were walking distance to great landmarks like the Jaffna library and St Mary’s Church. The hotel buffet breakfasts were superb and had all the traditional Tamil options. We ate healthy, delicious and sustaining cuisine every morning. The staff were friendly and professional and I loved their vivid green uniforms. I highly recommend Northgate Jaffna.

Good food, clean room, good location v close to station
Can’t really think of anything about the hotel itself, only thing about walking around the streets near the hotel, is how filthy they were, lots of rubbish and stinking ditches, very busy traffic. But the hotel itself was fine!
The restaurant is superb - authentic and tasty Jaffna-style cuisine. Staff were very hospitable too.
The hotel is very run down and clearly not as well managed as it was when previously under the Jetwing umbrella. Some issues include (though aren't limited too): a tiny, humid bathroom, without a functional bathroom fan; AC leaked and sounded like a Mack truck; bizarrely, only one spoon was provided when there was a tea set for two (happened two days in a row - highlighting this for lack of attention to detail); light and noise streamed into the room; the pool is rapidly losing tiles... Not what you expect for a four-star hotel (the photos of the rooms don't really match reality), particularly with other similarly priced but better hotels in the area.
Breakfast buffet were delicious!
The staff were outstanding—polite, helpful, and attentive throughout my visit. Their exceptional service made for a wonderful experience. Highly recommended!
The pool needs to me maintaining broken tiles
Staff are feiendly. Foods are authentic jaffna food. Closer to the station.
Matress is not firm enogh, needs to be replaced seems to be too old? Ac was leaking and fixed. Some guest are jumping into the pool without specified swimming cloths. Needs to be supervised.

The hotel was right next to the station and so using the train was very easy. Also pretty close to the main town and restaurants. The hotel was perfectly good for a couple of nights whilst sightseeing around Jaffna.
The coffee was dreadful!
