Pestana Porto - A Brasileira, City Center & Heritage Building

The AC was not strong enough to deal with the sun and heat. I would like to get the AC unit to be a bit stronger so the room tempature would be more comfortable after being exposed in strong sunlight in Porto for a full day.

It takes 2 hours to cool down even though I put one of my room cards to keep the AC unit running all day long.

Front desk did not inform us of the free minibar on checkin nor did they offer us any pastries to take home. However this was observed to be offered to other guests. Housekeeping poor. Basic breakfast

Paguei 250€ por 1 noite para ficar num quarto com janela directa para o horrível pátio interior. Abria a janela e podia entrar para o pátio além de que todo o hotel podia ver-me deitada na cama. Partilhei o meu acordar com uma pessoa que estava a fazer uma reunião na mesa ao lado da minha cabeceira de cama.

Além disso havia um ruído constante que saía pela conduta do ar condicionado durante todo o tempo, ia e vinha, não percebi se era uma caldeira de aquecimento ou do elevador mas para descansar e dormir descansado é impossível.

As fotos desta categoria de quarto que paguei chamada de “Deluxe” não tem nada desse nome e as fotografia são enganadoras.

Além disso toda a experiência é básica! A lobby é minúsculo, não há uma espaço para se estar. O pequeno-almoço é normal. Produtos de pastelaria e padaria todos de fornecimento congelado. Havia uma quantidade enorme de emissores de cheiros para disfarçar o cheiro a mofo dos tapetes. No lobby e nos andares. Enjoativo.

Dão um cartão por reserva e por isso para alguém se deslocar o outro tem que ficar às escura no quarto.

Para um hotel da rede Pestana espera-se muito mais. Sente-se uma política enganadora e literalmente de assalto à nossa carteira! Não sei onde foram buscar a designação de 5 estrelas.

Lamento dizer que odiei!

The building is stunning, and the location is perfect, but the 5-star experience pretty much stops at the lobby.
Breakfast was pretty average in terms of quality and choice, served by a morning crew who seemed to be strictly rationing their smiles for the day.
The americano coffee at breakfast is instant coffee.
Housekeeping skipped the vacuuming, and we were left with a completely empty tissue box.
It’s a gorgeous property, just treat the 5-star rating as a gentle suggestion rather than a reality.

The hotel is nowhere near a 5-star standard. I don’t know—perhaps somewhere this might be considered a 5-star hotel, but by European standards it is no more than a 2- or 3-star property.

I was especially “impressed” by the bathroom. There wasn’t even a handheld shower, one of the walls had visible mold, and the sink leaked so badly that washing your face was almost impossible. The toilet paper felt like sandpaper. The minibar contained nothing but three bottles of water. There was no coffee machine in the room—just instant Nescafé and a kettle. Yes, there is a coffee machine in the shared lounge on the -1 floor, but I don’t particularly enjoy putting on a bathrobe or pajamas and sitting in a public area first thing in the morning just to have a cup of coffee.

I won’t even mention the old worn carpet and the uncomfortable bed.

Marketing this hotel as a 5-star property is simply embarrassing. It is a good 2-star hotel or, at best, an average 3-star. The price and star rating are completely out of line with what you actually get.

The only positives are the excellent location and the friendly, helpful staff.

We reserve a executive room that supposed to be 28m square. But finally we receive a room of smaller in size claiming the room is more superior than the room we reserved as it is higher floor with balcony view. In fact the view is demolishing construction site view!
Also we have reserved the breakfast during check in and paying all the fee, but the staff in restaurant claiming that she cannot find our records and need I to request her to counter check with her colleagues
