TREATED MORE AS NUISANCE, NOT AS GUEST

I stayed at AltAir Boutique Hotel, Sector V, Bidhannagar (formerly Salt Lake City), Kolkata, from 17–19 June 2026, while on business travel. The hotel undoubtedly offers impressive views, attractive interiors, and modern infrastructure. However, my experience during the stay left me deeply wounded and compelled me to share it with prospective guests.All guest rooms are located on the 19th floor, while the restaurant is situated on the 20th floor. On the evening of 18 June, at around 7:30 PM, I went to the restaurant for dinner. Towards the end of my meal, I received an important business call. As the dining area was becoming quieter, I stepped out after dinner to continue the conversation. The terrace access door was locked, and owing to poor mobile connectivity in my room, I was searching for a location with a stronger signal. I eventually found a spot near the staircase between the 19th and 20th floors where the reception was adequate. The staircase is exceptionally wide and spacious, with very little foot traffic (Please see pics). After standing there for over fifteen minutes, I began experiencing significant discomfort in my knees. Being a senior citizen, my natural reaction was to sit briefly at the side of the staircase while continuing the call.At this point, a member of the hotel staff approached me and insisted that I get up immediately. I politely explained that I was in the middle of an important conversation and would leave within a few minutes. Despite this, I was repeatedly pressed to vacate the area without any apparent concern for my age, physical discomfort, or the circumstances that had led me to be there. The CCTV images will bear me out.What disturbed me most was not the request itself. Hotels have rules, and staff are entitled to enforce them. What was troubling was the complete absence of empathy, discretion, and basic courtesy in dealing with a senior guest who was clearly not causing any obstruction.

It was okay…

Location and the view…

Cons:

Guests are not allowed food and drinks from out which is not good as the pricing in the hotel is ridiculously high which is unsaid enforcement… The room layout ex 1905, the study table is so long that it could cause injuries while walking to the window or that side of the bed. The bathroom has glass only one side due to which the water splashes outside… Also I understand the checkin/checkout policy but if someone has checked in at 9pm at night they should be given atleast until 12pm to check out.

It was alright
Pros:

The view from our room was spectacular. We could see the whole city laid out in front of us. It was the bonus of the property in my opinion.

Cons:

I didn't like the extra cot provided to us in the room as it the suite was booked for 3 adults and 1 toddler. The quality of the mattress was very poor. And my son got some weird rashes of some insect bite after the stay.

Excellent comfortable stay for one night with great views, located in Salt Lake area
Pros:

It's on the 19th and 20th floors of a commercial building, with an infinity pool and a club. Rooms were comfortable and have a great view. Staff is very helpful.
