Staff were without exception excellent, and a redeeming feature of the stay. Location lovely, hotel attractive and all basics covered.
Accomodation good but basic, lacking "soul", and the little touches e.g. shortbread on hospitality tray. Stairs to rooms might be tricky for some, but that's the nature of the building. Some bedding stained, as were some scatter cushions. General lack of attention in what could be a really great hospitality experience as a 4* rather than the 2* it currently seems. Breakfast choice described as continental as well as cooked, with the former being yoghurt, cereal and 1 type of fruit juice, and a bowl of 3 types of fruit. Some pastries or such would have been more typically "continental ", as would a selection of meats or cheeses. Cooked breakfast well executed, but economical in portion size. Decaf coffee from a jar from the basic range of Aldi/Lidl type store. Got the feeling there was heavy leaning on location and history somewhere that could easily be more salubrious but is under achieving in effort.
The vibe was lovely. Really friendly and personal. It exceeded my expectations. Also loved the breakfast.
I didn’t like how I wasn’t able to find the WiFi password in the room. Room slightly tired in parts but still great value.
The overall positivity of the staff and convenience of the location. The room was large, private and comfortable. The food was excellent.
Our room was never made but that didn't detract from the comfort of our satay.
It was a perfect location, easy walk to the train station. Flowers at the station and along the road were very pretty. Girl who checked us in was friendly and also served us our dinner. Steakburger was so good... husband ordered it both nights. I was happy with my chicken parm first night then haddock second night. Fries were substantial and hot. Side salad was fresh with a really good light dressing. The company in the resturant was delightful, from both locals and travelers. We had to leave before breakfast was served on our last day, but they were so kind to fix us up with a couple of scrambled eggs on buns. After too much walking to get to our tour bus, husband's bum knee had swelled, and the server gave us a bag of ice to get the swelling down. Much appreciated!
Climbing stairs. Tricky room keys. Pillows that were a little too flat. Missing wash cloth.
Staff was very warm and welcoming!
We were very cozy in the room, however, we were on the top floor and it was a little challenging for my mom to walk up the steps.

We were there for a family wedding. The staff were excellent nothing was any bother to them. The breakfast was excellent as the evening meal we all had.
The hotel was very warm but that obviously couldn’t be helped.

Typique, rustique, certains diraient " doté d'un charme désuet ", personnel très sympathique, resto et petit-déjeuner très bons.
Bien que le lit soit très confortable, la salle de bain laisse à désirer...
