Pros:

Well positioned for exploring north main island
The staff generally tried to be helpful but certainly lacked good leadership

Cons:

1.The manager is so full of his own self-importance and totally incapable of working under any form of pressure
2.Room 203 Mattresses are old & very poor quality.
3.Bathroom door would not close and dangerously fouled with the overbath glass shower screen
4. Dining room furniture appeared to have been procured from the local primary school

Pros:

Great staff who were friendly and helpful. In particular Scot was very helpful and made our stay more special.

Cons:

The hotel focuses on coach parties which means that booking a prime time slot for dinner was never possible when a coach party was staying. We also had to vary our breakfast times at the request of staff. However, after raising our concerns, breakfast was now as expected but they could not make prime slots available for dinner in the evenings. The hotel was dated, but the majority of hotels in Shetland are dated as maintenance and improvements is costly. In addition many hotels were established to service the oil industry rather than holiday makers.

Disappointing, had higher hopes
Pros:

The facilities were clean

Cons:

The food was basic and lacked anything fresh, the service wasn’t friendly and almost got turned away even though we were booked

In the middle of nowhere, restaurant doesn't provide food at 6pm and you have nowhere else to go. Not worth the above average price..

It's ok
Pros:

Ok room. Noisy from dripping gutters overnight. Good TV and shower. Rooms needing spruce up. Breakfast was ok.

Cons:

Grumpy bearded English breakfast waiter. Like he didnt want to be there. If not ,then leave.

Pros:

Decent location for touring around. Had an EV charge point that you could use for a flat fee of £10 per night.

Cons:

Parking bays for charge point often had ICE cars parked in them. Could with clear signage.

Breakfast was adequate even if the quantities of the cooked breakfast were restricted by who served us.

Our second stay and it provided what we needed for a few nights in north mainland.
Pros:

The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The hotel was very dog friendly.
Perfect location for exploring north mainland.
Food was good with decent vegetarian evening meals.
Good to have a bath after a day’s walking.

Cons:

For me the continental breakfast was very disappointing and vegetarian cooked was just the meat version without the meat.
Tea tray and decor could reflect Shetland more.
Loud music from the open kitchen in the morning was very inappropriate. There was a quieter place to eat in the reception area.
Slightly over priced. The base of the divan was quite old and tatty. It needs replacing or covering.

Pros:

My room was large and comfortable, with two windows giving nice views.

Cons:

I thought I had booked an identical room for my sister, but her room was smaller, had only one window, and was in a less desirable location. However, it was the same price as mine.
