Bed was comfortable, bathroom good, only 1 bag of green tea
Hotel is run down, I have always had the feeling they are waiting for someone to buy the place
The room was large and clean and parking was easy
The bar had live music the night we stayed which was great
Bed was very uncomfortable and there was a hum from the garage next door which was constant throughout the night
Window open and fan in room. Good selection of teas/coffees in room Great continental breakfast.

Our room was sadly facing the 24 hr petrol station so the noise was horrific !
Shouting, swearing, traffic noise & car engines were waking us up through the night !
Had to close the windows although didn’t really make a jot of difference but it did however make the room sweltering !

It was a lovely hotel/pub very noisy in the evenings doors banging woke me up a few times but pleasant enough
No facilities for disabled, no shampoos, conditioner, only shower over bath difficult for me to get in and out of , No water for drinking in room , especially with heat, no air con just one small deck top fan to cool you .
It was far to warm, and the fan supplied wasn't sufficient enough.
Lovely staff and hotel
Staff are mostly very friendly. Food is very good. Parking is very close and a very central location in Belper.
Building and room feel quite dated. Only 2 easy access plug sockets, 1 used for TV the other for the fan. Petrol station close by can be loud until late and start quite early.
We got married at The Lion on 18th July 2026. From start to finish Toni was absolutely amazing, nothing was ever too much. From the first meeting, she was helpful, thorough and friendly and this continued right up to and after our special day. All of the team were friendly, polite and helpful on the day, there was always someone there if we needed something!
The food was amazing, and the house DJ was great and got everyone up on the dance floor!
The ceremony and reception room were spacious and decorated well and the bedrooms were clean and tidy.
Will be visiting again to come for our anniversary!
