ibis Styles Kota Kinabalu Inanam

We recently stayed at IBIS Styles KK under the most heartbreaking circumstances—following the sudden passing of my brother at Kota Kinabalu Hospital. What was meant to be a sad and stressful journey, bringing his ashes back to Singapore, was made infinitely more bearable thanks to the extraordinary kindness of the hotel staff, especially to Ms. Natalia.

From the moment we arrived, the team went above and beyond. Without us even asking, they offered a complimentary stay and transportation support. Ms. Natalia checked in on us regularly with warm calls and messages, genuinely asking if there was anything we needed. When we had questions, she provided professional and compassionate guidance.

One gesture that truly touched our hearts: knowing we had an early flight back to Sin, they arranged the packed breakfast for our entire family before we left.

In a time of deep grief, this hotel showed us what true service and humanity look like. We will never forget your kindness. Thank you.

The hotel is strategic, easily accessible and is surrounded with many shops nearby. However, if you wish to go to the mall, you might need e-hailing services.

Stayed for 2 nights and the experience was disappointing from the start. During check-in, the staff were not friendly and one of them was even sitting with their leg on the chair while serving us, which looked very unprofessional. When I asked for nearby recommendations, the only response I got was “disini bukan macam KK, KK banyak lagi tempat mau jalan,” instead of actually trying to suggest something interesting nearby or promoting Inanam as one of the main attraction in Sabah.

My mom also mentioned that the corridor was quite dark, but the staff responded that it is “scarier to look at the electricity bills,” which honestly felt inappropriate coming from hoteliers instead of thinking about guest comfort and experience.

The gym was too hot to comfortably work out in, and the breakfast menu was exactly the same throughout our 2-night stay. To make matters worse, our door lock became detached while we were out of the hotel, though it was fixed on the same day after we complained.

Overall, there is definitely room for improvement in both service and professionalism.

Have many restaurants and shop around there, and the bed have upper body matter feel good 👍🏻

The environment and the food

The accommodation fee is affordable, considering inflation around the world.
It is located in a very convenient area.
There are 99 Speedmart and 7‑Eleven, both of which are convenience stores, near the hotel.

Die Zimmer sind ausreichend groß, die Betten bequem und sie verfügen über einen Sessel, einen kleinen Schreibtisch und einen kleinen Kühlschrank. Toll ist die Rooftopbar. Das Frühstücksbüfett war hervorragend und das Angebot außergewöhnlich vielfältig. Das IBIS-Styles liegt zwar abseits der Innenstadt, dadurch ist es aber etwas ruhiger. Zudem ermöglichen die Grab-Taxis günstigen Transport mit kurzen Wartezeiten. Während unseres Dreitagestrips nach Brunei konnten wir problemlos unnötiges Gepäck im Hoteldepot lassen.
