Beautiful building, fantastic staff, excellent food and wine, great location and facilities, we will be returning!

We had a fabulous three nights here which honestly was not long enough because we did not have a chance to enjoy the pool and spa facilities. This hotel is first class - the well appointed room was spacious and had a magnificent view of the Tuscan hillside; the manager of the hotel personally welcomed us and she engaged with us several times during our stay; the staff was so attentive and professional and the daily breakfast was delicious and served in a lovely restaurant. The Monastero di Cortona was top of the list for our favorite hotel during our travels through Italy.

Monastero di Cortona was a lovely property and we very much enjoyed our stay. The hotel staff was exceptionally service-oriented and went above and beyond to help us with pressing services we needed for our son’s wedding, which we greatly appreciated during a busy and meaningful trip. The breakfast and lunch offerings were both very good, and our room was beautifully appointed overall.

The beds themselves were comfortable, though the hotel could significantly improve the pillows, which were so flat they were practically nonexistent. We also found the rooms quite cold during our stay and had to request both a heater and additional blankets. It took until our final night for everything to be fully resolved, but the staff was responsive and ultimately addressed the issue.

There were a couple of additional minor inconveniences during our stay. We could hear guests in the room above us late at night and again very early in the morning on the day of our departure, which unfortunately woke us before 6am. Additionally, the hotel experienced a temporary loss of both cell and WiFi service on our last day, which made coordinating with our car service a bit challenging, though it ultimately was not a major issue.

One important note for travelers: the walk between town and the hotel involves very steep hills and would likely be quite difficult for anyone with mobility limitations. We joked that it became our daily glute and quad workout while in Cortona.

Overall, we found Monastero di Cortona to be a beautiful, welcoming property with excellent hospitality and would happily recommend it to travelers looking for a charming stay in Tuscany.

This is a very well run hotel. The staff are unfailingly courteous, the rooms are very spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, and full of luxurious accessories.
The restaurant is superb, compliments to the chef.

It was too early in the season to enjoy the grounds and the pool, which look lovely in photographs, but the setting at the top of Cortona is very quiet with fine views. A little tricky getting there by car, as many have commented, but in every other respect we can recommend this fine hotel wholeheartedly.
