It is a beautiful, historic and atmospheric building. The rooms are stunning and the views lovely. Our bed was soft and comfortable and HUGE! My dream of a four poster bed has been realised. We had five mirrors in the room (counted them for fun) and all the furniture was in keeping. There’s even a Corby Trouser Press!
The young man who met us at the door, showed us how to use the key and served us breakfast every morning is an absolute treasure. In another age he would be the perfect butler. Big shout out to him. The breakfast is excellent and the coffee very good.
Honestly a lovely place to stay.
The stairs. We were in room 35. The stairs to room 35 are epic, mountain level epic. That said, it was worth climbing them to get to the room.
It was cheaper than most places
The shower leaked and the walls and ceiling where paper thin
Such friendly host. Lovely rooms. Very comfy beds. Host even started earlier in the morning to prepare breakfast as we were heading out early.
Such a kind thing yo do

Beautiful old building stunning room the four poster bed was amazing
Building is old could do with a few touch ups to paintwork apart from that it's very good
Egy régi házban szép körülmények között lehet itt megszállni. Köszönjük a kedves vendéglátást.
The building and its surrounding grounds appear derelict and poorly maintained, with many areas and guest rooms showing clear signs of neglect. Website photos are from better times and don't reflect the current state. Misleading advertising. Expect the "The Best Marigold Hotel" building.
OYO Bailbrook Lodge operates under a franchise agreement with OYO Hotels & Homes. The 15-bedroom Georgian property is leased and managed by London-based hotelier under a lease. OYO is India's largest hospitality company.
Unfortunately, the condition of Bailbrook Lodge falls well below reasonable expectations. The property is in a state of disrepair, with broken and dirty furniture, a damaged television, and extremely poor water pressure, making it difficult to take a proper shower as the water only drips from the showerhead.
There is no visible on-site reception, and staff can only be contacted by phone, which makes assistance less convenient.
The breakfast is of poor quality and not worth the additional cost. Overall, the property is badly maintained and does not provide a comfortable or satisfactory guest experience.
Nice and close to the town centre and a good car park, had a great view from the room of the lovely garden, finally a very good breakfast and very nice staff.
It’s an old beautiful hotel. Run down, so it’s really good value for money. It’s like a ghost hotel. Everything basically works. Fun experience for a budget traveller.
Could use a fan. Showers are quite weak
Location
Easy parking
Dirty looking serious need of work
Very clean, easy to find, very comfy bed
Need to advertise no shower bath only - breakfast was basic no option but still good - keypad didn't really work had to call for help
The breakfast was the best part of our stay
The room has no key for like other rooms and found having to use the electronic keypad a fath has it did not light up everytime. The tv in the room was unusable has it was broken only half a screen to watch . Hot water tap only ran at a drizzle. Bathroom was very dirty. Shower tray had mould . Toilet seat was wooden and very water damaged all toilet it's self was covered in black mould ir dirt. The building looked very tired over all . . No one would answer the phone number given . They state .7 miles from bath . This is to the sigh post welcoming you to bath . But it's a good 2 mile away from centre .
Bus stop were out of use . This could have also been on the site has its been out if use for a while.
Great location, huge room, great view over garden and comfy bed. Good breakfast, free parking and quiet.
There's an overwhelming smell as you walk in..when door is left open its better.
Positives:
- Really nice, friendly guy who brought a fan upstairs within 3 minutes of us texting and asking for one.
- only 8 minute taxi ride to centre
Negatives:
- very complicated check in. We had to call a number and ask for someone to come & let us in. It’s supposed to be self-check in but we weren’t issued a code. The people behind us were in the same predicament.
- No manned reception
- shower was horrendous, dribbling out and was very warm. Boiling hot day and really needed a cool shower
- damp in the room and bed was rather uncomfortable.
- shower gel & shampoo were in sachets which were quite tricky to open
- whole building was very dated and tired
-although it wasn’t expensive, it wasn’t very good value for money.
