Beautiful building and lovely staff
Breakfast
Rooms small, toilet in poor condition, mainly for conferences, not for others
Location close to Derby Arena
- No travel cots, were told to go buy one at the B&M down the road
- Room was unclean, stained carpets, mattress was very uncomfortable, with springs digging into users, pillows were paper thin
Location was good to be close to where we needed to be
Staff were very friendly and accommodating
Very clean and bathroom was a good size
Breakfast choices good
There was no air con in rooms (old building) so room was stifling, the fan placed in the room did not help much.
The room was very small, with no table or bedside the window side of bed which was poor as there were plug sockets there and would have been better to put kettle there as shelf above was not deep enough to put kettle on safely - hence we ended up having to use it on floor as fan was taking up space other side.
When we went to breakfast second morning had obviously been busier than previous morning, as tables were messy and I had to ask for ours to be wiped, but even then did not bring fresh cutlery and I had to collect unused from nearby tables!
When I went to get hot breakfast most dishes were empty, and it was good few minutes before being replenished.
Good value for money
There was only half a toilet roll in the room, for some reason they started packing up breakfast at 9:15am which seemed far too early and we were not informed about this prior to paying.
Le cadre et la proximité de mon lieu de manifestation.
En ce temps de forte canicule, il n'y avait pas la climatisation, juste un petit ventilateur.
Staff were helpful. It was clean and breakfast was good.
Finding the entrance was difficult at night little signage & poor lighting. The shower only dribbled hot water. For the money you can find better.
Quiet, clean, inexpensive hotel.
The bed was a small double, not a double. The bar and restaurant was closed for a function and was notified about this after booking. Bed mattress was dirty. The mattress protector came off and this is when all the stains was seen.
The room was sufficient for what we needed. The staff were great and the breakfast was very good.
We were advised on arrival that the bar and restaurant were unavailable on the evening of our stay, as there was a private function at the venue, and that if we required any food or drinks we would have to use room service.
The room we had, while adequate for an overnight stay, was certainly not suited to use for dining in.
This information should have been made available when I made the booking as, had it been, I would have chosen to stay elsewhere.
The only 2 local eateries were both around a 15 minute walk away from the Conference centre. We tried both, as we did not relish the idea of staying in the hotel room the whole evening and the first one we tried was a so called gastro pub called The Coronation. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. It's basically a local pub in a fairly run down suburb and they only serve food until 7 o'clock. The next place,The Merlin, which was then a 25 minute walk in the opposite direction was a 'Hungry Horse' pub/restaurant and was much better than the first.
None of it
So bland and depressing bathroom facilities where absolutely awful
Staff where good and the hotel & rooms where clean
the bed was uncomfortable, there was no USB sockets to charge my phone, the shower didn’t drain causing a puddle to leak into the main bathroom area, no air conditioning.
