Sehr idyllisch gelegene Unterkunft mitten im Ort und direkt am Fluss.
Wunderschöner Rosengarten und Pool. Das Restaurant sehr empfehlenswert.
Die Zimmer sind relativ klein und einfach, aber absolut ausreichend für einen kurzen Aufenthalt.

Beautiful old building in the centre of Montignac. Right on the river. Easy parking available. Great pool in a tranquil garden. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the best meal we had during our stay.

La Roseraie Hôtel Restaurant is an extremely quaint establishment located a few metres away from the river in Montignac. For those arriving by car, which we were (a long across Europe work related road trip) there is an abundance of safe and free parking directly in front of the hotel or just along the river. This was a big bonus and one of the reasons I initially booked this accommodation. As with nearly everything in Montignac, this hotel is picturesquely quaint and "classic rural French". Everything creaks and there isn't a straight line in the whole building, but it's a wonderfully charming space with lovely guest rooms, a tea room, and, the big highlight is the garden and pool. The restaurant is also rated as a Michelin, which we were excited about, but unfortunately was shut the evening that we passed through. I'm sure breakfast would have been lovely but we opted to check out some of the local bakeries instead. Overall the value for money is quite good and it is within walking distance of everything in town. If you're passing through on a quick trip to see the Lascaux Caves (like we were) or staying a few days, it's a good option worth checking out.
As with so many experiences, it's the people that can make or break the impression one has of a place. I enjoyed my time at La Roseraie, and the afternoon I spent lounging in the garden by the pool will remain as a positive memory for some time to come. However the following morning (which was also the day we were set to leave) we came downstairs to once again enjoy the garden. As the rooms are small and it was right in the middle of a heat wave we had hoped to do some morning yoga by the pool. The time was 7.30, so not an outrageously early hour. When we knocked at the door at reception to ask if we could access the pool we were met by a rather grumpy women who spoke no English, said it was not possible and shut the door in our faces. It's not the end of the world, but unfortunately it just left a bad taste in our mouths. A pity considering that up until that point we had really enjoyed our stay.
Very warm welcome, excellent situation. A beautiful house with a wondeful garden and riverside setting. The air conditioned rooms during the heatwave a blessing.
