La An Old Town Hotel

Good

A very clean, well-maintained, and beautiful hotel in a great location – right next to the night market and close to the old town. The breakfasts were delicious, featuring fresh fruit. The owner, were polite and smiling, but at every turn, they kept questioning us about all our travel details just to push their own transport, tours, and various attractions, which weren't necessarily at good prices. It got quite exhausting at times. Aside from that one downside, everything was great.

Sin duda lo mejor de este hotel son las personas que trabajan allí. Está a pocos minutos del centro histórico y lo suficientemente lejos del ruido de los bares del río. El desayuno completo: huevos, pan, mucha fruta y otras comidas locales. Y zumo de sandía y piña! Ana y Dona nos ayudaron muchísimo con la gestión de actividades. Nos guardaron las maletas hasta la noche que cogíamos el bus nocturno.

The location is great, right around the corner from the Old Quarter and lantern boat release. Breakfast was good, the beds were really comfortable to sleep in and the room was clean.

There was no kettle initially to make a cuppa, if you need Wi-Fi for work or to keep in contact it is very poor once you are in your room, it's OK on the reception floor, I was getting better reception in the local cafes. When we first arrived the toilet seat was not attached to the bowl, this was repaired the next day. Housekeeping left our balcony door open after cleaning. The walls are very thin, could hear the baby next door crying and the poor woman vomiting 🤢 at 1:30am.

Anna was lovely and organised a portal service and Spa treatment and airport transfer for us.

Super accueil, tout le personnel est au petit soin et de très bon conseil.
Les chambres sont très agréables. L’hôtel est idéalement placé à côté de la vieille ville mais nous loin du bruit.

The staff is super helpful, even more than the already high Vietnamese average 😊 They are happy to help with tours, rental, laundry, shopping and even got early breakfast for us from a local vendor.

Anna is amazing such a great host went above and beyond to help us. Right next to all the hustle and bustle of the old town but peaceful and calm. Room was great, we loved our stay.

My stay at Laan Hotel Hoi An was unfortunately very disappointing.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed nicely, but things quickly went downhill during payment. The staff asked me to try my card on three different EDC machines, all of which failed, and they insisted that my cards were the problem. I was then asked to pay in cash. However, after check-in, I withdrew money from an ATM near the hotel and my card worked perfectly fine. It clearly showed that the issue was not with my card, but with their EDC machines. This was both inconvenient and misleading.

When we entered the room, the sink faucet was not working. We chose not to complain and just used the shower instead. In addition, there was only one slipper provided, and only one set of coffee and one spoon, which is unacceptable considering the price of the hotel.

Later, we decided to extend our stay. The only available option was a family room, which was more expensive, and we agreed to pay for the upgrade. However, after moving, we found that the room did not have a coffee maker. When we asked the staff, he casually said all units were broken. This was unacceptable given the higher price we paid. Instead of offering a proper solution, he suggested that we go downstairs to get hot water ourselves, or that he would bring hot water to the room. That is not a reasonable solution for something that should already be included in the room facilities.

When we raised these issues, the staff even raised their voice and spoke to us in a rude and confrontational manner, which made the situation even more uncomfortable.

During breakfast, it was also strange to see a staff member eating in the same area as guests. While not a major issue, it felt unprofessional. Additionally, when I left my room, I saw two housekeeping staff lying down in a previously used room, playing on their phones with the air conditioning on, which was quite shocking and inappropriate.

To make matters worse, the TV in the room was also not working.
