Pros:

Great hotel with great staff.
Unfortunately the Chef was ill so we were required to eat elsewhere. There was a refund for the Half Board that was unused and the staff did a great job of customer recovery.

Pros:

Breakfast was very good & liked the bright comfy feel of the breakfast roo.

Cons:

The bar & dining area lacked ambience & was not very comfortable. The food was expensive and was very mediocre I quality. Would not recommend dining there.

Food was great, and downstairs of the hotel was very pleasant

Cons:

Seems like all the investment has gone into the downstairs, my room was shabby and very dated with minimal of facilities. Also the room was very tiny, single bed, no bedside table, just quite under-invested in the room

Location is lovely
Pros:

This is a lovely location and an interesting hotel. The restaurant staff were helpful and our dinner and breakfasts were ok

Cons:

Our room was in the attic which meant several flights of stairs. My husband is having difficult walking at the moment but there was no offer of help to carry bags up the stairs, or down again. We got the feeling we were a nuisance which is not great.

Misrepresented or Laziness in Listing or Bait and Switch
Pros:

It is in Scotland which is beautiful and friendly and has so much to offer the visitor. Visit Fort Augustus and the Caledonian Canal locks. There are also some good hikes nearby but stay somewhere else that has accurate listings that will meet your expectations. There are a lot of exceptional places to stay - check out Whitebridge Hotel for one.

Cons:

Room 6 is misrepresented by the descriptions and the pictures in the listings on Booking. The room is around 54 square feet at best (I actually measured it as 8x6 but am being generous); not 65 and the room does not at all resemble the pictures on line so do not be fooled. There is no end table between the door and the bed so electronics go on the floor or on the dresser close to the one window. There is a view of roofs with fans running until 22:00 rather than a "mountain view." Expectations matter - be honest.
