Very Hotel

Firstly, the male receptionist that checked us in did not give a good first impression or welcome. It seemed he really didn’t want to be there or talk/help with customers. In fact, me messaged us in WhatsApp a few hours before we arrived saying me had to check in before 9:30pm or we wouldn’t be able to get in, despite our reservation receipt and booking.com listing stating that you can check in up until 11:00pm. We had booked our flight based on that information so it was disconcerting to have expectations changed the afternoon of our arrival. Luckily for us our flight arrived on time and we got to the hotel just before 9:30pm. The lift has been ‘broken’ for a long time despite a handwritten sign saying it’s awaiting maintenance in the next couple of days and it actually being used for housekeeping to move bedding between floors.

The room itself was tiny, we paid for a ‘Deluxe view’ room, it had a small window (which leaked when it rained) but there was barely space to move between each side of the bed and the walls. There was a bedside table and plug socket on one side of the bed only, a very small metal post with one hanger and some narrow wall shelf’s but no real space to put bags, cloths, toiletries or belongings. The bathroom was equally tiny with a very small wet area alongside the toilet with no partition to stop water covering the bathroom when you shower.

The room was not clean on our arrival, the floor had hair in the bedroom as well as the shower, the surfaces we very dusty, the walls were covered in some type of dried dark liquid that had obviously spayed across the wallpaper and not been cleaned, the pillows had many black hairs on them which gave the impression that the bedding wasn’t fresh. The bedding and towels are very old and tired with holes and stains.

La habitación no tiene nada que ver con las fotos tan bonitas que se ven en Booking. El personal fue muy desconsiderado y poco amable, el ascensor dice estar en mantenimiento pero por otras reseñas se puede deducir que lleva meses estropeado. Estoy embarazada y al personal ni se le pasó por la cabeza ayudarme a subir mis maletas tres pisos por las escaleras, las subió mi marido. Al llegar no había nadie en la recepción para hacer check in, estuve quince minutos esperando a que alguien viniera. La puerta de la habitación está destrozada y ni funciona la tarjeta, tenemos una llave para abrir y cerrar. La habitación huele a humedad y nadie entra a limpiar, es mentira lo del servicio de limpieza diario.
Las ventanas no se abren. Ok, tiene bañera, pero no te dan ni una mísera toalla.
Todo esto lo digo durmiendo en la suite, así que no me quiero imaginar cómo son las demás habitaciones. Una estafa total, muy bonitas las fotos pero hechas de forma muy estratégica para que el hotel parezca algo que no es. Horrible.
Lo único bueno es que está ubicado en little India así que está muy bien conectado a pie con todo el resto de sitios.

I was wavery disappointed with my stay at The Very Hotel Penang. The check-in room on Level 3, but unfortunately the lift was under maintenance. Guests had to carry their luggage up the stairs, which was very inconvenient, especially after a long journey.

The service was poor, and the staff did not seem attentive or helpful. The cleanliness of the room was below expectations, and the overall maintenance of the hotel was lacking. The facilities appeared worn out and not well maintained.

Overall, my experience did not meet my expectations. I hope the management will improve the maintenance, cleanliness, and customer service to provide a better experience for future guests.

Toilet tak clean, time datang lift rosak , terpaksa angkat beg berat naik tingkat dua. Dah cakap kat staff reception TV rosak, tapi tak fix or update kat kami if tv tu memang tak boleh repair.. Nak check out, tapi time tu takde orang kat reception. Then saya wassp nak inform dah check out but no respond. Sayang tempat cantik tapi tak ada maintenance yang baik. Tak besar dan mewah tak apa sebab ikut bajet harga yang ditawarkan tapi still kena pentingkan kebersihan. Kalau bersih mesti orang repeat.

No room cleaning, no wifi (0.5 mbit) be ready for that.
