3 night stay
Pros:

Staff and were lodges lovely, food was nice. Nice location. Dog friendly.

Cons:

My main issue was having a service charge placed on everything including 2 cocktails we ordered at the bar, my husband paid extra for a cooked breakfast and a service charge was placed on that also. Due to cost we will not be returning.

For nearly £200 for a one night stay and limited Spa facilities Retreat East isn't worth the money. Nice location, on site staff very welcoming, but overall experience was very disappointing.
Cycle hire cancelled despite being able to book sessions online, check in wasn't available on time (granted only a few minutes late, but for the cost should have been spot on). There was dirty cookwear and crockery in our kitchen.
The worst of it, the management didn't care. We gave them plenty of opportunities to reply to our concerns, but never did.
Take and use your money elsewhere, Retreat East doesn't care about your hard earned money.

Fraustrating
Cons:

When we arrived at the property we were told our room was not ready for check in. We were told to wait at the barn and will receive a call for when our room was ready. It got to 15:00 check in time but no call received. We made our way to reception and were told our room was still not ready. We were taken to the barn and given a complimentary drink and were told we would receive a call when the room was ready.
It got to around 15:45 with still no telephone call. Myself and my partner made our way to reception to be told further our room was not ready.
I had also booked the spa for 16:00 meaning due to the delay of check in we missed our slot. Meaning we did not get use of the facilities. Also the staff made no attempt to help us rearrange our slot. Staff told us after the situation there was changing rooms but by this time it was too late and we would have missed more than half our time slot.
We kept being told our room was delayed due to late check outs that day but i explained if late check outs could not be maintained they should not be offered as it had a knock on effect. I also explained I explained to staff I was called earlier that day to ask what time we would be arriving to which I told staff I would arrived at 15:00 but I was given no prior warning to the situation.
We finally make it to our room at 16:20 meaning we were an hour and 20 minutes late checking into our room.
I raised the issue to retreat east after our stay but received an email to say if we book again we would get a complimentary upgrade, which I felt wasn’t satisfactory due to already loosing perks during my stay. I have also sent numerous emails to which I have been ignored.
This night away was booked for my partners 30th and I spent a lot of money today at retreat east. The customer service received had been very poor.

Okay but not overwhelming
Pros:

As I was a woman on my own I was a bit disappointed that I was put in a shepherds hut the furthest away from the main building. So I felt a degree of nervousness at night.

Cons:

There was no comfortable seating outside. All seats were wooden without cushions.

Refreshing, spa excellent, relaxing, value for money could be better
Pros:

Good setting, would likely pay for an upgrade next time as the Avery was a little on the small side, cosy granted.

Cons:

We had an evening meal at the restaurant. Food was very average and took 1 hour 30 mins to arrive. This was extremely disappointing for a stay of this quality. Wouldn’t eat here again or recommend to others sadly.

Lovely weekend
Pros:

Stayed in a Shepherd’s Hut which was lovely and despite other huts around felt private enough. The grounds are generally very pretty and so is the barn where breakfast is served. We enjoyed the hot tub and sauna, particularly having them exclusively to ourselves.

Cons:

Hut needs a refresh/maintenance (eg stained curtains, broken hooks). The advertised toaster and board games were not provided. EV chargers were difficult to get working, and reception staff were not particularly helpful when this was raised. The continental breakfast was also fairly limited. Overall, was a lovely place however not reflecting of the 5 stars.

A couple of days away relaxing doing nothing, which was the exact reason I booked.
Pros:

There was plenty on the menu for the bed and breakfast rate, although it did run out rather quick if you weren't there early.
The food in the restaurant was insanely good, I had Cod one evening and Chicken the other, both amazing.
Nice chilled vibe with people walking around in robes and relaxing on the sunbeds. A true switch off moment that I needed!

Cons:

On my second evening there was an event in the Barn and although the website advised that the property area is free of cars, on this occasion is was not. I had two cars parked outside my front door blocking my path.
The service was a bit light with regards to staff. On the Friday evening I waited 25 mins for my plate to be taken.
Also when ordering coffee with my breakfast, no sugar or spoon with given, I went inside to request these and then waited a further 10 mins for them to be brought out.
