Lovely area but Hotel not suitable for everyone.
Pros:

Downstairs the "newly refurbished" decor etc. is pretty stylish. Comfortable seats and sofas - really nice Tweed materials and a nice space to sit , chat /have drinks or/and play a game of Pool. It is, though, a thoroughfare (especially busy on a weekend - in High Season of course, to be expected). The staff mostly friendly, efficient and helpful. We were staying two nights and check-in time was at 3.pm. That was not a problem. Our room had new windows, shower room and doors . The blinds really nice in a Tweed style material. Same room as we had had before. Having stayed here before , when it was un re-furbished, it is a lovely area to be in it is basically quiet apart from weekends. Lovely to see some doggies around. in the downstairs area . Good views garden area and free parking.

Cons:

Too many rules ( rather like school). Have to sign in a book at what time breakfast you will attend just as you go upstairs at night. We had to miss the guest breakfasts as they were too early for us on holiday . At 8.45 a.m at the latest we didn't want to be rushed. On asking, this was explained by saying Mountain climbing guests have to start early so the breakfasts do. That I understand of course. Not all of us are Mountain Climbers , and I don't think the Hotel has thought this out properly. 10a.m check out too. It is 11a.m at most nice Hotels, so it felt rather rushed to pack up and go. The tables are crammed in together downstairs in Dining Room - more covers provide more money quickly of course. This was indeed a very unpleasant experience when we had Dinner , or drinks in the Bar- particularly at one end.. A very small space between each- so people could easily hear each other's conversations. We hurried up becuase of this , and it appears the aim is "get the money and quickly!" Some staff sounded over trained to sound nice and helpful, others just fed up towards the end of the Season!
Best for youngish people who are fit I think and not suitable for an elderly couple who don't wished to be rushed.

A comfortable and relaxing stay in a dog friendly hotel with welcoming and helpful staff.
Pros:

The food was excellent as was the general ambiance of the Hotel including the bar. The staff were very helpful. Extremely dog friendly which I appreciated. A comfortable and relaxed experience.

Cons:

The room was good but the sloping roof was a bit of a challenge on occasions! Ensuite facilities were excellent.

We enjoyed your hotel and our stay and we would stay again.Thank you
Pros:

We chose the hotel specifically as we had a dog and that was the main reason, our dog over rides our concerns always, she is our baby.

Cons:

I don’t want to complain, although a couple mis-haps rectified and that is satisfactory for us.

Pros:

Excellent food, welcoming staff, incredible location

Cons:

The room was a bit small and had no view from the very small window, and the bed was a bit small. However this was a late booking and it was at the height of the busy season, so we were glad to have been able to get it.

Fine if everything goes well – but if you have a genuine concern, expect to be treated as the problem
Cons:

We stayed in Room 8 and, unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by both the room itself and the way our concerns were handled.

Shortly after arriving, a member of staff was sitting on the stairs smoking. The cigarette smoke drifted directly into our room, forcing us to close the window almost immediately.

Having been awake since 5:00 am to travel to Arran, we decided to have a sleep at around 4:00 pm before going out for dinner. However, our room is situated next to the bar toilets, and the hand dryer could be heard repeatedly from inside the room. Over the course of around an hour, it went off roughly every three minutes on average, making it impossible to get any meaningful rest.

I reported this to a member of staff, who apologised and said they would see if another room was available, asking us to come back in around ten minutes. When I returned fifteen minutes later, I was told the owner would come to our room.

The owner came to listen for himself. Before we could fully explain the situation, he told us to “be quiet” so he could hear. During the 5–10 minutes he was in the room, the hand dryer activated twice, clearly demonstrating the issue.

Despite this, he insisted the noise was quiet, said they had “never had complaints of this nature” and that over 700 guests had stayed in the room without complaint. Whether previous guests complained or not has no bearing on whether our experience was genuine. We were not asking for compensation; we were simply asking for a practical solution.

Rather than trying to resolve the issue, the owner repeatedly offered us a full refund if we left, commenting that he would rather refund us than have us leave a negative review. He also criticised us for trying to sleep at 4:00 pm, describing it as a “working hotel and pub”, despite the fact that guests are entitled to use their room whenever they wish. He even suggested we book into Auchrannie instead, despite this costing considerably more.

Fantastisch-heerlijk-genieten!
Pros:

Lovely pet friendly hotel
Pros:

Very welcoming staff. Nice touch that there was a welcome pack for each of the dogs. Certainly they are very pet friendly.
Food was very good.

Cons:

Would have preferred an ensuite bathroom rather than a private bathroom. Also my sister struggled with the stairs so the location of the room was not ideal.

Lovely hotel in a fabulous location
Pros:

Despite having one of the little rooms with shared facilities the experience couldn’t have been nicer. Room and hotel had everything a traveller needed and the shared bathroom was clean and no bother at all. Food at the restaurant for breakfast and dinner was fantastic with local produce and the staff couldn’t have been nicer.

We had a wonderful getaway made even better by the hotel’s charming atmosphere and fantastic views.
Pros:

We had a wonderful stay and were particularly impressed by how dog-friendly the hotel is, we received a "dog pack" with a toy, treats, and bags upon arrival, a very thoughtful touch. We really enjoyed the breakfast, the selection of drinks, the beer garden, and the relaxing atmosphere of the open reception area where we spent some time playing pool. The views from our room were beautiful, especially in the mornings, and we felt very well looked after by the staff—a special shout-out goes to the slim gentleman with the glasses, who was incredibly attentive to our needs.

Cons:

There were a couple of areas where we feel the experience could be improved for future guests. We booked a room with a "private bathroom," but we weren't aware that it was located separate from our room, which caused a bit of an issue regarding privacy, though we didn't spend enough time indoors for it to be a major problem. Additionally, Room 11 became quite unbearable during the warm weather because the window only opens about 3 inches, and the standard tower fan provided wasn't enough to manage the lack of circulation. However, we must commend the manager—the same gentleman mentioned earlier—who quickly resolved this by providing us with a much stronger fan from the laundry room, which made the rest of our stay much more comfortable.
