Brilliant spot by the lake
I love this hotel and it's a beautiful, peaceful location.
The breakfast and service was wonderful. The staff are also very accommodating and lovely.
The pool & spa facilities are brilliant, and the gardens and outdoor bar/seating area is perfect.
Overall, it is a very clean, comfortable, tidy hotel. I love it here!
Unfortunately, this time, I was put into a room that hadn't had it's make over and been updated yet. It was clean with a beautiful lake view but now I have extended my stay and changed to a modern room. The updated rooms are stunning!
The only problem we had was the child's fold out bed. The mattress was very thin and uncomfortable on it. We mentioned it to the staff, and they offered to change it and even move us to a room with a sofa bed instead. We asked for another mattress to double it up in the end so we could keep the lake view in the room.
We then extended our stay and moved to a modern junior suite, and it was absolutely perfect!
Location.
Nothing
Everything to like.
The tranquility of the location. Friendly staff. We had a room overlooking the lake which had been beautifully refurbished to a high standard, as was the bathroom. It was lovely to have a bath which also had an overhead shower. Nice also to have a Spa and a large pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Everything there was top class with beautifully landscaped gardens.
For the standard of the room a dressing gown and slippers would have been very useful for going to the pool. The key to the lockers in the changing room (by the pool) had no wrist attachment so nowhere to secure it when in the pool.
Great location. Staff were great.
Rather overpriced. The room was average, no A/C so very stuffy. Had an expensive very average meal. Spa had run out of water and cups at the pool.
Excellent view
The spa facilities were poor and limited and the steam room was not working
The view, spa facilities.
The location of the room, the noise in the morning was terrible, the clattering of staff banging doors, moving dishes and cutlery right beneath our window from 6am onwards throughout the morning was constant. We had windows closed and were woken on numerous occasions by the noise.
I rang ahead and asked to book the last reservation on the lunch menu, I was told this was 4pm, we arrived and other customers were eating from said menu. I checked the menu and last time was 4.30, although we were told 4pm. We arrived at 4.10 so could have chose from the lunch menu if we were told the correct time. We then booked into the brasserie as fine dining was the only other option.
The food portion in the restaurant was tiny, my partner paid over £20 for hunters chicken, the chicken breast was tiny and he was served two boiled potato's cut in half as a side. The portion was terrible for the price, the staff in the brasserie never asked us if we needed anything, if the meal was ok or to check on us as you would expect. There was only 2 vegetarian options on the full menu, gnocchi and bean burger,if you were gluten intolerant you wouldn't have had anything to eat. As a vegetarian of over 20 years, if this is the only menu available then more options need to be available to choose from as choosing between 2 options for a meal we considered to be a treat was not acceptable.
We have stayed at the hotel 3 times now and have had positive experiences and made happy memories here in the last year, however the stay this weekend was disappointing and overall a let down, we paid over £200 to stay and have left feeling disappointed and ripped off due to 2 vegeterian choices and the portion size in the restaurant and not well rested after constantly being woken by loud staff moving in and out banging doors and shouting to one another from as early as 6am.
Disappointing and upsetting.
The location & facilities
Nothing
The location is brilliant. Gorgeous views and very tranquil and serene. I loved that you could walk from the pool down to the lake, and that after asking I was given a robe to wear. The bedroom was a good size and I slept well.
The swimming pool was uncomfortably hot. It was more like a bath and very off putting. Both of the water dispensers in the spa area had no water. No fridges in the bedrooms either so the combination wasn't great on a hot day. Bathroom was looking quite worn. Brown stains all over the towel rail. Felt more like a paint issue that cleanliness. But still a bit ick!
Love the location, just right next to Lake Windermere. It has very beautiful landscape and having a meal outside facing the lake was wonderful. The room was comfortable big enough space for 2 pax.
As it’s summer, it’d be nice if we could open the windows - the advice was not to, as there’d be crawly bugs getting into the room via the windows. Perhaps the hotel can put up insect screen on the windows in the future. Glad there was a small fan provided.
