The common areas were ok(ish) it’s an old hotel which looks it. Needs to be updated.
There wasn’t anything I didn’t like, for 1 night it served its purpose. However the mattress in room 101 needs replacing
Smell in the bedroom on arrival, room very tired and in desperate need of some care. Pillows a joke. Staff weren't that pleasant apart from the lady serving at breakfast.
I came here Friday with some friends as we was attending a festival near by. The hotel was easy to find. Check in was straight forward. Hotel is in a great location! We had a lush room! Lovely and big and the beds were comfy. Breakfast was absolutely stunning! Freshly cooked, always restocked and you was greeted with a smile. Highly recommend this hotel and will be returning
The staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating.
The room was unbelievably hot with the window only opening 10cms. It made getting ready to go out and sleepy very difficult.
There was no mirror in the main room, at the dressing table.
Location to the town is good.
The rooms are tired very hot as there is no air conditioning or fan and very noisy due to road traffic and passers by.
Very clean and easily accessible
Good location
Had to pay for parking, even though car park was very big, plenty of spaces, the twin room we had was over bearingly warm, the beds looked as if somebody had been lying on them, only one small window opened and no air conditioning, the weather was extremely hot, so hot couldn't breath in the room. Asked if we could move to an air conditioned room, we were given one desk fan, it was a little help but not enough, thank goodness we were only staying one night due to visiting a very I'll member of the family.
Friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Room was very clean and breakfast was excellent
The only minor change I would like to see is a fridge in the room
Good parking. Room comfortable.
Pillows hard.
Location excellent, ample parking spaces
Easy to find, late at night arrival accepted, family room
Arrived for a one night stay on business in the area.
Great staff, nice bar area and restaurant.
The outside space is great too.
I was impressed, however after the initial observation which is important, the rest didn’t match up
1. The room was very small, soulless and almost depressing.
2. The breakfast buffet was poor quality. Eggs like rubber, dried up bacon and dried hard sausages.
The black pudding was like cardboard . Very disappointing. If the quality was there it would have been excellent
It’s a shame after the first impressions and the great staff it was so disappointing.
I would have given it 3.5 if I could.
Improve the breakfast and do something with the rooms and the hotel will be great.
I hate giving negative reviews but I hope this place turns around as it has so much potential.
Opted for a deluxe double room which was fine, walk in shower which was great. Room was situated on the basement floor and was nice and cool given the 28 degree heat outside at the time of our stay. We did utilise the air conditioning later in the evening.
Location is quite central in Carmarthen, plenty of room in the car park, we weren't aware there was a £5 charge for overnight. We did get some of it back on spending over £7 at the bar.
Drinks and food were reasonably priced, Guinness £5.50, wine £4.50.
We ate early evening as a coach party had arrived, and we were advised on asking to order before 7pm when they were due to dine. Cockles and lava bread starter was lovely, everything else was cooked fine.
It's an old building and some elements come over as a bit tired, staff were pleasant.
One minor niggle, as we had to be away by 7am when breakfast service began we had arranged for a couple of bacon sandwiches and cartons of juice. The Lady at reception confirmed it was fine in the evening, and the night porter would be informed, but come the morning, nothing, he said he hadn't known so we left empty-handed despite having paid for breakfast in the room price.
