Onsen was a welcome treat. Yhe staff and host were all very friendly. Large rooms, very clean.
Hotel Kasansui is a quaint hotel close to the Sounzan cable car station surrounded by greenery and great views of the mountains.
An ideal retreat to get away from the big cities and experience traditional Japanese hospitality and the famed Onsen hot baths.
They offer free pick up and drop from Gora train station
The hotel is basic but exceptionally clean and the rooms are spacious except for the bathroom which is a little tight.
The dinner and breakfast are served in the traditional Japanese kaiseki style. It was amazing to try the assortment of dishes, some of which we had tried for the first time ever. The staff is very kind and courteous and we loved our stay here.
A different kind of experience.
Tres bon accueil et repas excellent.
Property was very well maintained and the owners were extremely kind. The onsens were great, and a traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast were included in the stay.
The two main aspects I didn’t love about the stay were the beds and transportation to and from the hotel. Maybe I missed it or it wasn’t super clear in the description, but our twin beds were more like thin mattress pads and were super uncomfortable. I don’t think every room is like this, so verify with the pictures and descriptions. For the transportation to and from the main train station, there’s a poorly timed bus that doesn’t adhere to the bus schedule at all (granted, they delays are probably caused by tourists not knowing how Japan buses work). If you plan to stay in this area in general, expect another 1.5 hours of travel from the train station due to waiting for the bus and taking the bus.
Very clean and nice property. Multiple bus lines pick you up directly out front. Fast walk to the ropeway and that takes you to owakudani and lake ashii. We did not try onsen
Very Old fashion, very run down, not refurbished for very very long time). Pictures do not show how it looks in the reality. The only good thing was the clean sheets . The onsen was not worth a visit. (Dark and did not feel Fresh)
Summary in total; not at all value for money!!!
We have traveled a lot around Japan, and this Hotel was really disappointing us. Made the total experiences of Hakone not great.
1. Staff are all very nice and polite
2. The worst thing is the food. Dinner is not food, not much food and we need to drive to family mart to buy cup noddle
3. Onsen is real but no good view
Huoneissa näkyi ajan patina, mutta henkilökunnan ystävällisyys korjasi pienet ulkoiset puutteet.
We had a great stay
It was a delightful countryside experience. Very good food and lovely onsen. Also table tennis room. Really nice time there. Friendly staff who gave us an umbrella and drove us to the next destination. Nice hot spring rooms inside the hotel and very central.
As others mentioned the property is a bit dated but otherwise an excellent place to stay around Hakone and is very conveniently located from the cable car and the train stop. Food and Onsen were great and the place gives an idea of Japanese traditional hospitality. You can easily ship your luggage from the hakone station and don’t have to carry them around. If you have any dietary restrictions make sure you tell them in advance because their food offerings are predetermined. I would stay again
