River Rapids Inn

On the first day of our stay, we informed an employee that our room phone was not working and this was not addressed during the entirety of our visit. There were an assortment of smells throughout the inn that were quite unpleasant. The front entrance was being drywalled and at one point was completely closed off due to drywalling. The stairwells and hallways smelt nauseating.

There was complimentary breakfast (plastic tasting scrambled eggs, greasy sausages, cereal, oatmeal, baked goods, yoghurt cups, fruit cups, orange/apple juice, coffee, tea) from 7am-9am. I was disappointed to see the amount of garbage created through the disposable plates, bowls, cups and cutlery and hoped to see washable kitchen wear in the breakfast hall.

The walls are paper thin and you can hear your neighbours on either side, as well as above and below. One of the pipes in our shower would shake when the shower was on and it was so noisy that our neighbours below were yelling and hitting their ceiling at us. You can clearly hear what people are saying in the hallways and hear people walking around.

There were no remarks of $20/night parking fee until our welcome message sent the day prior to our arrival. I double checked and found nothing on Booking, however, Expedia showed $10/night parking. I emailed to inquire and they confirmed a $10 (plus taxes)/night optional add on, as well as a mandatory $5 (plus taxes) daily hotel services fee per room. It would have been helpful to know about the parking fee prior to booking and seems bizarre that their welcome message said $20/night but when I inquired and referenced Expedia's fees of $10/night they accepted that. Upon arrival, their written agreement that required a signature also stated $20/night but they honoured the $10.

I am writing regarding our stay in Room 211. Upon checkout, I reported several serious health and safety concerns to the front desk. I was told that someone would contact me today, but I have not received a call.

The condition of this room was unacceptable and raised significant health and safety concerns.

Health and Safety Concerns

Live ants in the room
Strong odor of urine throughout the room.
Toilet leaking blackwater (human waste) onto the bathroom floor, resulting in visible floor rot at the bathroom door
Exposed electrical breakers.
Drawer that would not remain closed properly.
Cleanliness and Maintenance Concerns

Filthy baseboards - especially in the bathroom
Food and/or debris splattered high on the walls.
Wallpaper held in place with staples.
Extensive water damage from the floor above causing wallpaper to release from the walls.
Because of the unsanitary conditions, we did not use the bathroom other than when absolutely necessary, and we did not shower in the room. The room was not fit for occupancy, and I am very concerned that it may be rented to other guests without these serious issues being corrected.

We have photographs and videos documenting the condition of the room and are prepared to provide them upon request.

Given the severity of these issues, I am requesting a full reimbursement for our stay. I would appreciate a prompt response regarding how this matter will be resolved.

There wasn't a thing I didn't like during my short stay.

We did not know how to control the AC. The panel was hidden.

Sliding door wasn't able to be opened. Tub was worn. Room a bit aged, but everything functioned. Aside from that, it was a decent room for the price. Had a great mom- daughter weekend!
