We stayed at Hotel St. George in Helsinki for two nights in August as a base to explore the city and take a day trip to Tallinn.
The hotel is wonderful, featuring Scandinavian design thoughtful down to the finest details of color, materials, lighting, and overall guest comfort. The staff is exceptionally friendly, diverse, and attentive—special thanks to Petra at reception upon our arrival; we truly felt well taken care of.
Keep your eyes open for the hotel’s art treasures, which feature works by several famous modern artists! The rooms are exceptionally comfortable, featuring inviting beds, customizable lighting, and excellent soundproofing.
We had breakfast on both mornings and loved the prompt, cheerful service, custom omelets, and cappuccinos that looked and tasted like they came from an authentic Italian barista. We also visited the spa, which features a classic Finnish sauna and a warm, refreshing pool—it worked wonders on our sore muscles and joints after long days of walking! The Wintergarden Bar is equally delightful, filled with beautiful design elements, striking wallpapers, and stunning artwork.
I am truly looking forward to my next stay at Hotel St. George! ❤️😋☕️
A nice Hotel with good location near the city center
Kauniisti sisustettu huone ja käytännön asiat hoituivat hienosti. Aamupala oli herkullinen ja palvelu erinomaista!
Tyynyt olivat epämukavia.
Adjacent to a green park and ideally located to explore the heart of Helsinki, the St. George is a boutique type hotel with cool decor, hip art installations, well-maintained rooms and public spaces, and super comfortable beds. We booked an Atelier room (501) that was very spacious with beautiful views of the park. It also had one of the largest bathrooms I’ve ever encountered in a city hotel; the double sinks and large vanity area and thoughtful layout were great. We also appreciated the vault-like bathroom door that was a nice change from the unfortunate frosted glass bathroom doors we’ve been seeing at many high hotels in the last years. I gave four stars instead of five only because: (1) the room lacked a dresser, drawers or shelving that we could use to unpack—there’s really no choice but to live out of your suitcase except for a rod to hang a few things on in the small closet; (2) there was no Nespresso machine which at this price point one sort of expects instead of a kettle and instant coffee packets; and (3) there isn’t turndown service.
A huge bonus was the spa area— it is free of charge to use. It has a simple clean locker room and a coed sauna, steamroom and pool. Great way to relax after a day exploring and before dinner.
Breakfast was fine. But there are also tons of restaurant options on the blocks around the hotel for breakfast, coffee, lunch and dinner.
The front desk staff was super nice and welcoming. They helped us get a reservation one night at a restaurant whose website said it had no reservations available. That was much appreciated.
We were very satisfied with our recent week-long stay at Hotel Helsinki St George. It’s a beautifully designed and well-built hotel conveniently located in the heart of Helsinki. It’s about a five-minute walk from the Helsinki Central Station and is within walking distance of great restaurants, museums, parks, stores, and the harbor.
At check-in, Emilia of the Reception staff greeted us warmly, and assigned us a great room on the fourth floor.
On our first night, my wife wanted fresh air and was given a key to open the windows. We slept quite soundly. Unfortunately, on the second night we were both bitten by midges. When we informed her of that fact, Emilia was most helpful. She sprayed the room with a repellent and offered to switch us to another room. Then, she patiently and cheerfully showed us four different rooms on two different floors and at different price levels. Finally, we decided to stay in our room, and Emilia arranged to have it cleaned thoroughly. We just kept the windows shut and enjoyed the rest of our stay.
We were very satisfied with Emilia’s extraordinary customer service. With Emilia’s can-do attitude, we believe Hotel Helsinki St George is in good hands.
Breakfasts at St George were plentiful and delicious, featuring a variety of hot and cold dishes and a few delicious Finnish specialties. We especially enjoyed the made-to-order omelettes and different kinds of coffee. The breakfast staff was cheerful, courteous, and helpful.
Our favorite area was the St. George Care spa which features an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, cold bath tub, individual showers, and neurosonic lounge chairs. In fact, we spent most of our time in Helsinki luxuriating in the spa. It was most refreshing to take a hot sauna and then plunge into the cold bath or swim in the pool. My wife and I also had a couple of massages and really enjoyed them.
In sum, we had a most enjoyable stay at Hotel St George. We highly recommend this hotel to all travelers planning a trip to the beautiful city of Helsinki.
Beautiful, extra large rooms, helpful & friendly staff, artful decor, with outstanding location.
I loved our nice big balcony with the great views over the park and the central location close to everything
I was initially hesitating between Waldorf Astoria, Hotel Kämp and Hotel St. George, and spent quite some time reading reviews on both TripAdvisor and Google before making my decision.
I eventually chose to stay here, paying almost €500 per night for three nights, plus anothwr 100 euros fo an airport transfer. Unfortunately, the experience did not start well. Upon arrival at the airport, the representative who drove us to the hotel barely said a word. There was no proper greeting, introduction or explanation about the transfer. He seemed to be moody. For a hotel positioning itself at the luxury end of the market, this was a disappointing first impression.
Things did not improve upon arrival at the hotel. We had to carry our own luggage. I completely understand that staff can be busy, but there was neither a greeting nor even a simple apology for being unable to assist us. It is these small details that often define luxury hospitality.
Check-in itself was fair. Our room on the 6th floor had a lovely view and balcony and was well equipped. The bathroom was spacious and probably my favourite part of the room. Some of the closets and furniture could benefit from a little refurbishment or touch-up, which would make the room feel more polished.
Breakfast was good, and the service there was pleasant.
After walking past and visiting both Hotel Kämp and Waldorf Astoria, having been greeted by an operation manager during the visit, I unfortunately found myself regretting my choice. At almost €500 per night, I expected a noticeably higher and more consistent level of hospitality, refinery. The property itself has many good potentials, but the service could have been much better aligned with the price point and the expectations of a luxury hotel.
Beautiful property lovely room, great cafe, great location
Nothing to dislike
We visited thd Hotel St. George 2x within a six month period (summer, Winter Wonderland). The second time, in the winter, I was recovering from a lingering hip surgery 4 months prior. The hotel was just the place to be to continue recovery. We went to the spa, had daily saunas/pool exercise, and ate delicious breakfasts. I felt so good with my recovery, that I joined my family on a super easy, careful, XC skiing outing.
You'll be greeted by happy and helpful staff; lots of smiles show that the staff really like being there.
If you are looking to go to Helsinki, consider the St. George Hotel, whose one staff told me, their motto is to, "Exceed Expectations." And, that's exactly what you will experience.
I'd fly an extra 8 hours over any hotel in the USA, just to be at the St. George in Helsinki with their fantastic cheerful staff, lots of pampering, spa/sauna/pool area, and great breakfasts.
Enjoy your trip and stay at the Hotel St. George!
I had such a wonderful experience with the Omorovicza: The Queen Soothing Skin Therapy Session with Hanna Glad. She was incredibly professional and knowledgeable, making me feel comfortable throughout. The treatment was truly rejuvenating, leaving me feeling refreshed and revitalized. I highly recommend this spa and Hanna for any future treatments! She truly made it a five-star experience!
Superior service, excellent staff, very relaxing spa and super good restaurant and Bar. Cocktails are worth tasting. Breakfast is very good, wide selection and fresh tastes. Maybe not the best hotel for families, we had our 1-year-old with us.
Receptionist was great in getting us last minute reservations at Karl-John down the street by calling on our behalf. We highly recommend this small but excellent dining place.
The bed mattress was too soft. TV remote and safe access should be checked before a guest stay as the remote batteries were dead and the safe could not be used as it could not be reset. Staff was very attentive to get both of these items fixed immediately but it would have been great if those had not been an issue from our initial stay.
部屋、立地、スパ、サービス共に素晴らしかったです。
