Bankside Hotel, Autograph Collection

When you book an Autograph Collection hotel, you never know what you’re going to get. the Bankside Hotel was wonderful. The check-in staff was excellent-warm, on top of things and helpful. The location was excellent for exploring London and for taking the tube to/from the various airports. The buffet breakfast (which is complimentary for Titanium members) was good. They have a nice happy hour on the terrace, with complimentary wine, a few evenings each week. My favorite thing about the Bankside was the curtains that were pieces of art by Dutch artist Claudy Jongstra.

This is a very good hotel. Not too big or lavish but well-appointed and stylish. We had a Deluxe King room which was very comfortable and spacious. The location is great - quiet but right on the Southbank and close enough to reach most attractions on foot if you do not mind walking for 30 minutes (the weather was great so we walked everywhere). But tube and national rail stations are also very close. Breakfast was good (but not excellent); there is one main room and one spillover room which is not very nice and seems to be used mainly for families with young children. Staff at reception were polite and helpful. Housekeeping was very good.

Just three observations:

1. On our last day we (two adults) were given a table in the spillover room for breakfast. I suggest this be used exclusively for families with children. I understand that children can be lively but do not want them running around me at breakfast.

2. We were given a late check out and were asked to go to reception to have our room keys updated to the new checkout time. I did that and the key was reprogrammed but it stopped working the next morning and we could not get in after breakfast. Reception was nearby and I popped down again, but this should not happen in a hotel of this quality.

3. When I originally booked, the rate with breakfast was an extra £35 per day per person. As there are plenty of places to eat nearby I declined. I later (as a Bonvoy member) received an offer for £18 pp per day, which we took. I think that was a reasonable price for the good but not lavish buffet breakfast offered (but note that ordering from the menu is at extra cost). I prefer to have breakfast at the hotel and more reasonable initial pricing would ensure more people do so.

We have stayed here a few times now and have really enjoyed it each time. The location of the hotel (esp if arriving from Gatwick) is unbeatable. The service at the hotel is great, check-in is efficient while still very welcoming. At breakfast the staff were very attentive, special mention for Anastasia who remembered our breakfast orders from a previous stay and was very sweet with our children. These little touches mean a lot! This is the best Bonvoy hotel in London, at least for our family needs.

We stayed at the Bankside Hotel during our recent short stay in London. Even though this was not our first trip to London, it was BY FAR the BEST! The hotel is conveniently located within an easy walk of all the attractions, yet in a quiet area free from the touristy commotion. The best part of this hotel is its courteous, friendly staff, who welcome you with a warm smile and make sure you have a five-star stay. (Thank you, Leena, Kasha, and Ola, for your excellent hospitality!) The rooms are very comfortable with first-class amenities. This will be our go-to place for our future stays in London!

The staff were very welcoming, taking cases to the room. Offering a carton of water on arrival (it was a hot day). Phoning for a taxi. Nothing was too much trouble.

We came back into London after a long cruise, and this hotel was the oasis we needed! We were instantly greeted by the wonderful Lena, brought right up to reception, and offered a welcome drink. After friendly discussion of our plans, she helped us book the tour we wanted and assigned us a spacious room. Our bags were delivered by a most delightful porter who showed us everything we needed to know about all the controls and amenities. I only wish I could remember his name! Curly hair, glasses, cheerful - but then, everyone was lovely! The shower was gloriously large, the bed so very comfortable, and the sitting area perfect for lounging. The accommodation is filled with art pieces and has many places to sit and relax - I wish we’d had more time to do just that! Perfectly located steps from the Thames Path, we had easy walks to the Tower Bridge, the Tower, Shakespeare’s Globe, the Tate Modern, Borough Market, and so much more. This is a must-stay location!

Very very comfortable, excellent location (Thames south bank) and a superb breakfast.

Just returned from a night at this hotel celebrating our wedding anniversary.

Our room was perfect. And the whole hotel is absolutely beautiful. Breakfast is very good too.
Returned to our room last night to find a lovely card a little cake and a bottle of chilled prosecco for our Anniversary, what a perfect touch, thank you so much .
Would highly recommend this hotel,and it will definitely be our new favourite hotel when we visit London.

This was our second stay at The Bankside and we enjoyed it as much as last year. The hotel is maintained extremely well and housekeeping was terrific. All front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful.. .a special call-out to Ola and Manuel. The hotel is in a wonderful location for any activities on the South Bank and is conveniently located for nearby Tube and train stations. We look forward to returning next year.

Great hotel with excellent service. Kasha was especially friendly, professional, and very helpful. She made our experience even better.
