What to expect

Meeting point at Mindo Central Park at 5:50 a.m. Our first experience will be an up-close encounter with playful hummingbirds such as the Booted Racket-tail, White-necked Jacobin, Purple-throated Woodstar, Brown Inca, Rufous-tailed Hummingbird, and many others. Your expert guide will remain attentive to every new arrival visiting the reserve. Among the most spectacular birds that regularly visit the feeders are the famous toucans, including the Chocó Toucan, Yellow-throated Toucan, Toucan Barbet, and the remarkable Plate-billed Mountain Toucan, a species that is often observed during the first months of the year and again from June onward. A variety of colorful tanagers also frequent the reserve, including Golden Tanager, Silver-throated Tanager, Palm Tanager, Golden-naped Tanager, and the beautiful Glistening-green Tanager. Other less frequent but highly sought-after visitors to the reserve and the Mindo area include the iconic Andean Cock-of-the-rock, several species. We also recommend bringing your binoculars to enhance your birdwatching experience. By 10:00 a.m., we will return to Mindo Town. Besides, send us your target bird list for a customized birding tour.
