Arrive 15 MINUTES before the start time of your tour. Meet inside of the retail store, Portland Beer Hub (320 Fore Street, Portland, ME 04101), in downtown Portland's Old Port.
Step onto the heart of Portland’s maritime soul at the Working Waterfront, where weathered docks and salty air still tell the story of a city built by the sea. As fishing boats unload the day’s catch and gulls wheel overhead, you’ll feel the pulse of a harbor that feeds both Portland’s economy and its culture. This stop offers more than just a view—it’s a chance to experience a living, breathing connection to the sea, where tradition and industry meet in every tide and timbered wharf.
Stop: Portland Fish Exchange Visit the Portland Fish Exchange, one of the only remaining working fish auctions in the United States. On auction days, you may witness the fast-paced sale of fresh catch as fishermen and buyers move through the process in real time. On non-auction days, you’ll still get a behind-the-scenes look at how seafood is landed, handled, and prepared for market, along with insight into the systems that keep Portland’s fishing industry running. Stop: ISF Trading Step inside ISF Trading, a working seafood processing facility, for a hands-on look at where some of Maine’s freshest seafood is prepared and distributed. During your visit, you’ll sample a selection of fresh, raw seafood while learning about sourcing, seasonality, and what makes Maine seafood so highly regarded.
