Fort Worth's Stockyards has been the heart of Texas cattle country since the 1860s. On this self-guided audio tour, you'll follow Exchange Avenue through 150 years of history, from four million longhorns to the gunfights and outlaws that followed.
You'll start at Stockyards Station's brick streets, where old hog and sheep pens have become local shops. Then you'll reach the Fort Worth Herd pens, where cowboys still drive longhorns down this street twice daily. You'll hear how cattle barons incorporated their own city in 1911, sitting on $300 million in assets today.
You'll pass the Cowtown Coliseum, the first indoor rodeo arena, and Billy Bob's Texas, once a cattle barn and now the world's largest honky-tonk. You'll see the hotel room Bonnie and Clyde chose, then finish with a beer at the White Elephant Saloon.
In just 60 minutes, you'll watch the cattle drive, step inside the Coliseum where Elvis performed, spot an unmarked filming spot from 1883, and walk the Texas Trail of Fame.
