Once a medieval centre-turned-industrial powerhouse, Nuremberg was devastated in World War II. On this self-guided walking tour, you'll trace the city's medieval past, its thriving Jewish community, and the unique way it was rebuilt from the rubble.
Starting at Nuremberg's central station, you'll pass through a modern-day artisans village, visit the Gothic St Lawrence Church, and discover the city's only baroque church and one of the few original medieval buildings still standing. Along the way, hear about Nuremberg's Jewish history across three turbulent eras, taste the famous Lebkuchen gingerbread, and learn how the city converted to Lutheranism 500 years ago.
The tour ends at Hauptmarkt, the city's vibrant main market square — the beating heart of modern Nuremberg.
