    Zhongshan Park is a classical imperial altar garden located beside Tiananmen Square. Built in the Ming Dynasty as the Altar of Land and Grain (Sheji Altar), emperors once held grand ceremonies here to pray for good harvests and national stability. Later renamed to honour Dr. Sun Yat-sen, this peaceful park is full of ancient cypress trees and traditional Chinese architecture.
