During the stay of several hours in Hohenschwangau you have the possibility to have lunch and to visit the castle Neuschwanstein with a guided tour in English. Weather permitting, you can hike to the viewpoint "Marienbrücke" where you can take incredible and breathtaking pictures of Neuschwanstein Castle.
You can also visit Hohenschwangau Castle from the outside or, weather permitting, take a walk along the Alpsee lake.
If the weather is cold, you can also visit the Museum of the Bavarian Kings at your own expense.
By nightfall at the latest, you will return to Munich in a heated modern coach.
If you stand at Karlsplatz (Stachus) with your back to the fountains, you will see the toy shop "Obletter" on your left. If you continue straight ahead along Sonnenstraße, you will see the "Fielmann" eyewear store. There you will meet the tour guide and the coach.
We’ll meet at 8:45 a.m. at Sonnenstrasse 1, 80331 Munich. There you’ll find a tour bus marked “Mentor Reisen,” and our friendly driver and guide will welcome you as you check in. We’ll depart at 9:00 a.m. and drive past several Munich landmarks (which the guide will explain) on our way to the village of Hohenschwangau.
On the route we drive through the artists’ village Oberammergau. It is known for its facade painting (known as Lüftl-Malerei) and woodcarving. The Passion Plays, which take place there every 10 years, have also become world-famous. They depict the last week of Jesus’ life, from Palm Sunday to Easter. You’ll take a tour of the town by coach, as this allows you to see much more than a brief stop would.
At the village of Hohenschwangau the guide will pick up (skip-the-line) tickets for the tour of Neuschwanstein Castle. Afterward, you’ll have free time to have lunch at one of the many restaurants, take a walk to Hohenschwangau Castle, or stroll along the Alpsee. And you can make your way to the Marienbridge (depending on the weather) You can reach Neuschwanstein Castle on foot (about a 30-40 minute uphill walk), by shuttle bus/by horse-drawn carriage for a fee. Your guide will provide you with the exact details.
After a ride of just under two hours in the comfortable coach, you’ll arrive back in downtown Munich and get off at the meeting point.
