Asklepion. The Asklepion of Kos is one of the most significant archaeological sites in Greece and an important center of ancient medicine. Built in the 4th century BC, the sanctuary was dedicated to Asclepius, the god of healing. Patients from across the ancient world traveled here seeking treatment and spiritual healing. The impressive terraces, temples, and ruins also offer beautiful views across Kos and the nearby Turkish coastline.
Tree of Hippocrates. The Tree of Hippocrates is one of the most iconic landmarks on the island of Kos. According to tradition, the famous physician Hippocrates once taught his students under the shade of this plane tree. Although the current tree is believed to be a descendant of the original, the site remains a powerful symbol of the island’s connection to the birth of modern medicine. Today it stands beside the historic harbor and attracts visitors from around the world.
Neratzia Castle. Neratzia Castle is a striking medieval fortress that guards the entrance to the harbor of Kos. Built in the 15th century by the Knights of Saint John, the castle played an important role in defending the island from Ottoman attacks. Its thick stone walls, towers, and strategic location reflect the military architecture of the period. Even from outside, the structure provides a dramatic backdrop for photos overlooking the harbor.
Kos Harbor. Kos Harbor is the lively heart of the island’s main town and a beautiful place to experience the local atmosphere. The waterfront promenade is lined with cafés, palm trees, and historic buildings overlooking the marina. Fishing boats and sailing yachts create a picturesque setting that reflects the island’s long maritime tradition. From here you can also enjoy views of the castle and the nearby Turkish coastline.
