Shortly after the fall of the Great Teotihuacan city as well as not long before the foundation of the Great Tenochtitlan a number of pre hispanic cities struggled to seize control over near by territory and resources. Those concerning the central part of Mexico north east fell within the grasp of the walled city of Cantona.
