Mongolia is the birthplace of Tengerism, the world's oldest spiritual tradition. For four days in June, the open steppe just beyond Ulaanbaatar becomes the gathering point for 900 shamans from 40 nations — all answering the call of the Eternal Blue Sky. Wake before dawn for a sunrise prayer performed for millennia. Walk a village of nations, meeting practitioners face to face. Stand beside fire ceremonies burning past midnight under a sky so vast it feels like the edge of the universe. No stage. No script. No barrier between you and what's happening. Every ritual is real. Every shaman practicing — not performing. Add Mongolia's Naadam games, a shamanism conference, and multi-country fire ceremonies — and you have four days unrepeatable anywhere on the travel calendar.

What to expect

Mongolia is not simply hosting this festival — it is the living origin of world shamanism. For over 3,000 years, the boundless steppe and Eternal Blue Sky have been the cradle of Tengerism, the oldest spiritual tradition known to humankind.

Long before Buddhism, long before written scripture, Mongolian shamans were the bridge between human and spirit worlds — worshipping sky, earth, fire, water, and the ancestors who shaped the land beneath their feet.

Now, for the third time, the world answers the call. The Tenger World Shaman Festival brings together over 900 shamans from 21 nations — converging on Ulaanbaatar to share, honour, and practise their traditions side by side.

This is not a cultural performance. This is a real, breathing, sacred gathering — and you are invited to witness it.

This year's festival carries the declaration "Let's Develop Without Disability" — a commitment to raising understanding, support, and acceptance for people with autism, their families, and caregivers.
