    Maras

On the way to the Sacred Valley, we will stop at the Maras Salt Mines, one of the most unique and picturesque attractions in the Cusco region. Known locally as Salineras de Maras, this impressive site features more than 3,000 small salt pools that have been used since pre-Inca times. Natural salt-rich spring water flows down the mountainside and is carefully channeled into the terraces, where the water evaporates under the Andean sun, leaving behind high-quality mineral salt that is still harvested by local families using traditional methods. Enjoy spectacular panoramic views, learn about the centuries-old salt extraction process, and discover why Maras remains an important source of income and cultural heritage for the local community. This stop is also a fantastic opportunity to take unforgettable photographs of one of Peru's most iconic landscapes.
