Rome, Italy

Offered in: English and 1 more

You're not booking a class in a rented room set up for tourists. You spend a couple of hours inside a real artist's studio, working alongside a ceramic artist in the same space where she designs and makes her own pieces, surrounded by her tools, wheels and finished work.

The setting matters too. Monteverde is a residential Roman neighbourhood, not a tourist trail, so you get a slice of everyday Rome that most visitors never see.

It stays genuinely hands-on and personal. With just 2 to 6 people, you're not watching a demo from the back of a crowd: you shape the clay yourself from start to finish and get real attention while you do it.

What to expect

Get your hands into raw clay in this beginner-friendly pottery workshop in Rome, held in a working ceramic studio in Monteverde, one of the city's most authentic and least touristy neighbourhoods. In a couple of hours you'll learn to shape your own piece and decorate it however you like, guided by a local ceramic artist in her own creative space.

No experience is needed. Your host walks you through a few simple hand-building techniques to make an everyday object like a bowl, a cup or a small plate, and you'll also get to try the ceramic wheel. You'll be surrounded by real tools, wheels and finished ceramics as you work, so it feels less like a class and more like time spent in an artist's studio.

It's a small-group experience, from 2 to 6 people, which keeps things personal and relaxed. You'll leave with something made entirely by your own hands and a real sense of how clay turns into ceramic. A genuine, hands-on way to spend a morning or afternoon in Rome, away from the crowds.
