Travel along Oʻahu’s spectacular southeast coastline and pass the world-famous Hanauma Bay, a volcanic crater transformed into one of Hawaiʻi’s most recognizable marine preserves. Your guide will point it out as you continue along the coastal route
See the unmistakable profile of Koko Head Crater rising above East Honolulu. This ancient volcanic landmark dominates the surrounding landscape and is home to the famous Koko Crater Railway Trail.
Watch the power of the Pacific at one of Oʻahu’s most dramatic coastal viewpoints. Depending on ocean conditions, seawater shoots through the natural lava-rock blowhole below. You’ll also have time to enjoy the rugged coastline, spot Hālona Cove, and capture photos of the surrounding scenery.
Cruise past Sandy Beach, a beautiful stretch of golden sand known locally for its powerful shore break and impressive waves. It’s a great glimpse of Oʻahu’s raw, energetic coastline and a favorite beach among experienced local bodyboarders.
Take in one of the most impressive panoramic views on Oʻahu’s windward coast. From the lookout, you’ll see brilliant blue water, dramatic sea cliffs, offshore islands, and the sweeping coastline stretching toward Waimānalo. On especially clear days, the views seem to go on forever.
Take a quick break to recharge before continuing around the island. Use the restroom, enjoy complimentary coffee, and browse additional drinks, snacks, and refreshments available for purchase.
Experience the breathtaking Nuʻuanu Pali Lookout, perched high above Oʻahu’s windward coast and surrounded by the towering Koʻolau Mountains. Take in sweeping views while learning about the fascinating history of this important Hawaiian site. Then experience our Hawaiian Wind Bat! Step into the Pali’s famously powerful trade winds, open your arms, and let the cool mountain air surround you. It’s a refreshing, uniquely Hawaiʻi moment and one of those experiences that’s almost as fun to capture on camera as it is to feel in person.
Experience a taste of Hawaiʻi at Tropical Farms Macadamia Nuts, nestled along Oʻahu’s beautiful windward coast. Sample a variety of flavored macadamia nuts and locally grown coffee, browse Hawaiian-made treats and gifts, and learn a little about one of the islands’ most famous crops. Surrounded by lush tropical scenery and the dramatic Koʻolau Mountains, it’s a fun stop to snack, explore, and pick up a few locally inspired souvenirs before continuing the journey around the island.
Look offshore for Mokoliʻi, the small, distinctive island commonly known as “Chinaman’s Hat” because of its recognizable shape. Sitting just off Oʻahu’s windward coast, it makes for one of the drive’s most memorable views.
Pass the lush mountains and dramatic landscapes of Kualoa Ranch, one of Oʻahu’s most recognizable locations. The area has appeared in numerous Hollywood productions, including Jurassic Park, and offers some of the most cinematic scenery on the island.
It’s time for a North Shore-style lunch. Stop at Tanaka Kahuku Shrimp to relax and enjoy a freshly prepared meal before continuing your adventure along Oʻahu’s famous North Shore. Guests can choose and purchase the meal that suits them best.
Spend over an hour experiencing the legendary North Shore of Oʻahu. Depending on ocean and weather conditions, your guide will select an appropriate beach where you can swim, snorkel, relax on the sand, or simply enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian coastline. Snorkel gear is provided for guests who want to explore beneath the surface and look for tropical fish and other Hawaiian marine life. Hawaiian green sea turtles may also be spotted, although wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. Whether you jump in the water or relax on shore, this extended beach stop gives you time to slow down and actually experience the North Shore. Not just drive through it.
Pass one of the most famous surfing locations on Earth: the Banzai Pipeline at ʻEhukai Beach. In the winter months, powerful waves break over the shallow reef here, creating the iconic barrels that have made Pipeline legendary throughout the surfing world.
Pass historic Waimea Bay, one of the birthplaces of big-wave surfing. In winter, enormous swells can turn the bay into a proving ground for elite surfers, while summer often brings dramatically calmer turquoise water. The surrounding cliffs and wide crescent of sand make it one of the North Shore’s signature landscapes.
Spend some free time exploring the laid-back heart of the North Shore. Walk through historic Haleʻiwa, browse local shops and galleries, grab a snack or shave ice, and soak up the colorful atmosphere before meeting back with your guide.
Finish the adventure at one of Oʻahu’s best-known attractions. Explore the plantation grounds, browse the country store, shop for Hawaiʻi-made gifts and pineapple treats, and—if you’re hungry—grab the famous Dole Whip.
