The Bombay Hills are a range of hills to the south of Auckland, New Zealand. Though only a small and seemingly insignificant range of hills, they lie at the southern boundary of the Auckland region, and serve as a divide between Auckland and the Waikato region. directly named after the ship Bombay, The ship itself was named after the Indian city of Bombay (now Mumbai). Bombay Means: a breed of black short-haired medium-sized cat.
We stop to get some great coffee at your own expense and a comfort break before we continue our journey into the Waikato region.
Step deeper into Middle-earth with an immersive Hobbiton™ Movie Set experience that goes beyond the traditional tour. Explore the Shire with a specialist guide, wandering amongst Hobbit holes, Bag End, the Mill and Party Tree while discovering fascinating stories and movie-making details from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Visit the Green Dragon™ Inn for a complimentary Southfarthing™ beverage before enjoying a generous banquet lunch at The Millhouse. Then venture behind the scenes with special access to the Art Department workshop, where prop makers, carpenters and scenic artists create and maintain the intricate details of Hobbiton. Explore lesser-seen areas of the set and conclude with a Hobbit-style cheese platter with chutneys and fruit, surrounded by beautiful views of the Shire.
