Spend a meaningful day volunteering at an Elephant Sanctuary, the island's first ethical, observation-only elephant sanctuary.

Your morning begins with an educational video documentary, followed by approximately 1.5 hours of guided observation and learning as you watch rescued elephants roam freely. You will also visit our dedicated elephant hospital and learn how its facilities support elephants requiring specialized treatment and rehabilitation.

In the afternoon, you will take part in practical volunteering tasks that directly support the sanctuary, its elephants and their environment.

The program includes snacks upon arrival, a vegetarian lunch and dinner, and a volunteer shirt—a rewarding day combining education, ethical observation and meaningful contribution.

What to expect

Your experience begins at our meeting point, followed by a truck transfer to the sanctuary. Enjoy welcome refreshments and an educational video documentary before joining a 1.5-hour guided walk to observe rescued elephants roaming freely and learn about their behavior, welfare and individual stories. You will also visit our elephant hospital and discover how its facilities support treatment and rehabilitation.

After a vegetarian lunch and break, take part in practical volunteer tasks based on the sanctuary’s daily needs. These may include preparing nutritious rice balls or supplementary fruit baskets, harvesting or planting elephant food, clearing night shelters, moving dung for composting, maintaining pathways and other conservation work.

Finish the day with a vegetarian dinner before returning to the meeting point.

Snacks, lunch, dinner and a volunteer shirt are included, as well as socks, boots, gloves and tool for use during the day.
