Day two works through Alexandria on the way back: the Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa, Qaitbay Citadel on the harbor, and Pompey's Pillar, before you reboard.     Day 1 begins on the Giza Plateau, where you stand at the foot of the Great Pyramid of Khufu and see all three pyramids together with your private Egyptologist.

    Beside the pyramids you meet the Great Sphinx, the lion-bodied guardian carved from a single limestone ridge, with time for photos at the valley temple.
