Mount Inari is the sacred mountain behind Fushimi Inari Taisha, one of Kyoto’s most important Shinto shrines. The mountain is covered with vermilion torii gates, small shrines, stone altars, and sacred sites connected to Inari worship. As you climb the mountain path, you will pass through quiet forest areas and learn about the culture of offering torii gates, the meaning of otsuka stone altars, and the relationship between Inari faith, business prosperity, and everyday prayers. The route also includes Yotsutsuji, where you can rest and enjoy a view over Kyoto. At the summit area, visit Ichinomine Suehiro Shrine, the highest sacred point on the route, and draw an omikuji fortune.
